"Passing cold streets without you
Eating hot noodles by myself"
-Summer Lucia music piece page 8
The third job is the weirdest one. Helping Carl Borke. The most famous photographer. I can't even believe it. I can actually scream, but it may annoy Joan. Joan doesn't seem to believe it either. But she just hands the map and says, "Don't mess up."
The model is also very famous. Ryan Carson. He's Irish and he does own the look. Red pale hair and red freckles face.
"Nice to work with ya," Mr. Borke says. "Call me Carl."
"Alright, Mr.. I mean Carl. I'll do my best."
The shoot begins. Just like before, the lightning guy doesn't really know how to please Carl. He keeps grunting that he hates the light, saying that the things that save the shoot are Ryan's face and pose. I keep shutting in because I don't know about the shoot's theme. But as I finally observe, I get the meaning.
I come down to the set again and offer my help to the lightning guy. He's so pleased that I want to move the light around.
Just that, a guy walks in and it's Jake Adams. Carl greets him. I think he's the next one who shoots with Carl or I'll say the last one.
I take the lightning and move it around to match the perfect shoot. Carl who grabs the attention of it quickly captures the moment. "Yes, that's it!"
This time, the lightning thing is heavier. I'm hoping that I last long so the shoot can run well.
Eventually the shoot is wrapped and I almost let the lightning fall into me. But I can feel a hand balance the thing.
I turn around and see Jake Adams. And that's when I hear a yell.
"Help that girl, ya fool!" Carl shouts.
"Are you okay?" Jake Adams asks.
"Yeah, thanks," I reply as I step aside.
That's when I also see Ren. He's waiting for me.
"Thanks," I say once again.
Ren almost walks over here, but I give him a look. He cannot help me with my job.
The lightning crews finally move the lightning away. I bow down to Carl. He almost gives me hell. Saying that I shouldn't have lift the thing. Saying that I'm a girl.
I smile, thinking that I should have a dad. Maybe he will be mad just like this.
I glance at Jake Adams, and he does the same. I keep remembering the first time I really see him, in the hospital.
Both of our eyes met that time, but this time I glance away to Ren.
"You okay, Yuka?" he asks.
"Sure," I reply. "Are your jobs done?"
"There is one more thing, but we can meet him later at the restaurant. We'll go first."
"So, what's with that happy face?" I ask him.
"Why don't you find out by yourself?" he asks.
Once we're in the basement, I realize that there isn't Uncle Moon or anyone else who would drive us. Instead, I see a shining black audi. "Seriously?" I ask him.
"Hell yeah!" Ren replies excitedly. "When we're gonna talk about business, we gotta prepare ourselves. Make us look good."
"Can you drive?" I ask him when we're in the car.
