"I hope that one day
All of those doors are opened
I know hope is there
The light is near now."
-Summer Lucia's music piece page 23
Joan tells me that this is staffs' outfits day, so I have to join playing dress up. It's so unusual. But I think it's gramps's idea. He likes toying up with some crazy ideas.
This must be one of his crazy ideas.
Every night I always send grandma and grandpa a text. Yesterday, they freaked out. Pretty much because I joined a party. It's not forbidden. But they were so shocked that I wanted to come. They must have thought, who are you and what have you done with my granddaughter?
Nana also said that Ren didn't give her a call yesterday. I hope that he's fine.
I finally choose my dress with pink and pale orange stripes. It's vintage and I love it. I also choose my furry white cardigan so I won't get cold. The last touch is my brick red mary jane. And I'm finished.
Jake is at living room, arguing with someone in the phone. I hear he calls Rooney. I guess it's his manager or publicist or something.
"I know it's wrong to fight in the party," he says. "But I had a reason."
That Rooney seems to get more angry, but I can't hear him. Anyway, Jake remains calm. "Don't worry. It's just Will. Like usual, he's too protective with Katy. And I know. I'm also in his position. Can you call Mason for me? He's the most trusted man I know. Let him protect Katy. All right, Rooney. Sorry I made a fool of myself."
I quickly go to the front door because I don't want to be caught listening to his phone calls.
"Are you ready?" Jake asks from behind.
"Sure," I say.
Jake scans me up and down. "You should have told me that you will wear this. I'll arrange a car for you."
"No need," I say. "Seriously. I'll be fine."
My phone beeps and I gasp. I totally forget about Moon! He's in my house, sipping coffee and thinks that I'm still at my room. Thankfully Mira informs me first.
"I'm so sorry, Jake. Do you have a secret door that leads me to my house?"
"What?" Jake seems totally surprised.
"Moon, my uncle is in my house! He's picking me up to work. The worst thing is Ren isn't there, and so am I! My grandpa will freak out, thinking I'm joining a cult or something. I'm afraid. I'd never stayed in boy's house before. This is the first time. My grandparents will get mad at me. Moon will also kill me. He's my godfather. He will be so mad if I'm in boy's house! Oh my god. What should I do?"
"Calm down, there's gotta be a way out."
My phone beeps again. I almost scream when I see Moon's text message. "He's confused why I'm not coming down. What should I do? Gosh, this is so bad. I think I'm going to hyperventilate."
My lungs are hurt and I can't even breath. Great, Summer. What a freak.
"Summer," Jake calls my name and pats my back. "Don't worry. Everything's gonna be okay. Stay with me, okay? Breathe slowly. Inhale and exhale."
I stare at Jake's blue eyes when his hands are covering my nose and mouth and opening a bit when I exhale everything.
When I'm okay again, I look at Jake. I can't believe he's that nice. "So do you have any solutions?"
