"Don't look at or stare at me.
I'm nothing special.
Just a simple plain daisy.
I may have my own beauty,
But I can be like the rose
You've always wanted."
-Summer Lucia's music piece page 1
Can a house get bigger just by seeing it twice?
That's what I think when I see Jake's rented house again. It's not that it's small when I saw it first time. It's big. But it's bigger now.
"Where's Jud?" I ask him.
"He's sleeping in my room. Let's not bother him."
"Okay,"
"Are you okay with no anchovies?" he asks.
"Sure, everything is fine. I'm not picky," I say.
"Good. I hate anchovies," he says.
"What's with the house? It seems bigger now."
Jake laughs a bit. "It's the same," he says. "Although a few things were moved by the owner. That's why we won't see the vinyl anymore. Such a shame."
I stare at the empty cupboard. "Yeah, it's a shame."
"Have you finished your song?" he asks. "For your audition, I mean."
"Not really. I still can't think about a better ending. Well, I also checked my refrain. It seems like a simple song. I don't think it will be accepted."
"You have to be optimistic," Jake advices me.
"I'll try," I say. "It not that I want to mind your business. But who's Katherine Ann to my brother? It's a pure sisterly act. I'm just worried for my brother."
"Ren will be fine," he says.
"He might be stubborn. I tell you what, I've known Ren long time ago."
"Don't worry. I know him too."
"Um.." I trail off. "I know it seems like I don't really know Ren that much. But I'm worried sick of him."
"He'll be fine."
The bell is ringing and I assume it's pizza's delivery. Jake stands up to take it, but I actually stop him.
"Let me take it," I say. "Don't risk yourself getting mobbed."
"I'm not that famous," he says.
"Yeah," I says unbelieving him at all. "You're not that famous. It's even funny for you to say it."
"So, you're going to take everything we deliver from now on?" he asks.
"Sure, until I go back."
"I might actually invite you in, right?"
"I'm sure you're super busy."
I take the pizzas and I also make sure to give the delivery guy get a tip. I can see that the guy is looking around. I think he's trying to look for Jake.
Yeah, not that famous.
"Thank you for the pizza. You may go" I tell him.
"Are you his maid? Is he really inside?"
