Light shines on their back as you lay next to them. Soft snores spill from their mouth almost breaking you out of you trance. You were thinking back to that day on the beach were it was all okay and you were so full of love. You thought about how heart raced everytime you made eye contact and how your stomach twisted with every word they spoke. You thought about how amazing they looked that day in their bathing suit running and smiling and shaking water out of their hair.

Then your head went to the fight you two had right after. All the harsh words that slipped through your throats and left marks in the trails of tears on each other's faces. The pain in your chest and the realization you came to. The realization that their smile wasn't as beautiful and their little quirks weren't compatible with you. You continued to think about all of the bad that came out of the good.

So bad. All of the thoughts that ran through your head were so bad and the worst thing was that they were all about them. About the way they yell at you for doing something wrong or sometimes act like you don't matter or aren't there or how they don't give you attention but you always forgive them when they come crawling back with sugar coated words and honey dripping from their lips.

Shaking your head you tried to think of something other then that. You thought about how you celebrated Christmas in the tower with everyone else and how they held you all day and gave you a new series of books to read. Those thoughts turned into the time where you accidentally spilled eggnog on their sweater and they became furious and didn't hold you anymore. They continued into remembering the dull beat of your heart when they held you or the kisses lacking want and passion. You remember not caring when they didn't talk to you because you moved onto someone else and feeling great when you were hugged by another.

Your mind slipped into how great that holiday would've been if you didn't spend it with them. Pushing that thought aside you realized that you were falling out of love but you didn't want that because you thought you wanted to stay with them.

If you were meant to be then you would stay together. The idea of fate being nice to you kept you two together. Both of you liked to believe that the spark wasn't fading and that you belonged together.

They believed that they fell in love with the right person. They ignored the warnings their mother gave them about being careful in love and never falling in it but standing in love. You fell in love without truly knowing it would work and now it's all ruined.

"I don't want you anymore" those words slipped out of your mouth without any warning. Your heart began to speak for yourself instead your head. "This isn't working and I know you feel it too. I know you can tell that my heart doesn't beat as fast as it used to when I saw you and that our flame is dying out. So I'm sorry to say this but we're not working anymore". Those words were the first sounds to hit your lovers ears as they woke up. With a raspy voice they responded "Why. I still have feelings for you"

With a scoff you gave a small chuckle and responded " Find a way to get rid of your feelings because I can't do this. I can't do us. If we continue this we'll end up in ruins, just fighting to stay together. I know you have enough self control to stay away from me and get rid of your feelings. Look at us. We argue every day and we don't go out and we enjoy being around other people then being with each other. This was over a long time ago we're just acknowledging now though." After those words you left and never came back.
