Callidora leaned in, her eyes narrowed as if she was making certain of her gut feeling. She went literally in front of my face. "Wh-what are you doing?" I asked her without any resistance.

Finally, his mother stood from the floor. She was looking at me with panic and concern. "Your life is at risk, beautiful young woman."

My life? At risk? But why?

"Okay, please, everyone just calm your nerves. Chill," Abel stood from his seat, and looked at Cal. "Mom, sit down and sup with us right now." His mother obediently followed. I could clearly understand how supping with your family is important. Because based from how panicky Cal was, it seemed like she lost her appetite. And most especially at the fact that they had been out hunting again, probably no food being digested in her intestines now.

And there's no way in hell am I going to leave! Not until I find out first what happened to my mother. The complete scene. And if my life was required after knowing about everything to face the one who really had the notion of putting an end to her life, I'll gladly give it. Just to get the real justice.

I stood from my seat and gazed at Cal. "I won't leave. No matter what you say. I have lived my entire life running away and hiding. I have not yet seen my mother since I knew how to breathe. I will put an end to all of that."

Cal was obviously listening, she was sighing. Sighing as if she could understand me. Sighing as if she knew how I felt. The longing to see just my mother's face, at least. Sighing as if she . . . As if she . . .

Since Nagath, their home, was near the forest, they might have seen him. There was a chance. And so hope lit my face.

"If you want to help me, just answer a simple question," I stopped until there to confirm my statement.

Almost all of them nodded. Even Abel said yes.

"Did you meet a man with a huge bag on his back while you were hunting?"

Each of them were looking at each other, exchanging glances, asking each if they did.

Neither of them nodded. I've had enough of this.

"Thank you for your kind hospitality. Especially you, Abel. Thank you for washing my muddy clothes and for replacing it with this one. Probably your sister's. But I apologize, I have to go now," I gave a genuine smile as I marched toward the door. Why did I just run out of patience?

Excuse me, Selene, but this guy that you probably got in love with again just found you in the middle of nowhere and put you under his roof and tended to your wounds and gave you clothes and even fed your roaring stomach. And now you're just going to leave him after all?

Well, I trust that I only like his abs. Not his whole self.

Could anyone tell me what sort of being am I?

I didn't want to get humiliated, and so I still I turned the knob and went outside. Imagine me going to open the door and suddenly go back to my seat and eat and pretend like nothing happened.

"Hey, wait!" I heard Abel's voice, and his footsteps approaching me.

I didn't hear him. I was stubborn. I was pressing on. I wrapped my arms against my chest. All for the show. To avoid the risk of getting embarrassed.

I felt a warm hand on my shoulder. I ended the acting. I turned so I could face him.

"I can't let you leave me alone. I mean, this place. You'll get lost, I assure you. I don't care how well you know every place in Grezsatly, Selene, but please, try to think about your safety."

He suddenly chuckled. "But I gotta tell you, when we hunt, we always do it together. As a family. And we always have a game, whoever gets the biggest one will win. So my technique here is that I split with them."

I got his point. "If I were you, I wouldn't think 'bout that."

He was laughing but then he turned serious. His usual look. Seriousness. "But I'm begging you, Selene. Do not leave yet. You don't know what befalls you if you go on." Oh my God, those eyes. Those begging eyes and attractive face. Who wouldn't want to resist this guy?

"On one condition. Stay, and you have my word that I will go with you and find that 'him'. Whoever he is. Leave, and die."

I grinned not because of happiness, but I felt a little amused. "You don't have to, Mullen. I don't need your help. And I can do it on my own."

"You can't. Tomorrow, I'll go with you. What if your leg gives up, huh? What if you'll pass out for the second time? Worse, what if you'll die?"

"I won't die unless I fight whoever attacks me. And come on, man, a girl is stronger than a guy. That is a proven fact."

"Whatever! I don't fucking care whatever your mouth says. You will stay and I will go with you. For your fucking safety."

I understood him. I went inside their house and supped with them. There was still dessert, Abel had made us one. He was handsome, he was hot, he even has the skill of cooking!
