I was running without any stop at all for two hours when I came pounding at Father's door at the same time catching my breath. This was the only time I got very terrified and petrified as if I had no chance anymore at extending my life. As if enemies that outnumbered and could overpower me was just a feet behind me. "Open the door . . . Open the door . . ." I gasped out.

A usual face of Tate was the one that showed up when I expected it to be Father. He was always the door-opener. "Where were you?!"

I completely ignored him. "Where's Father, Tate?" I still gasped out.

Shock and worry filled his face when he saw my face. He took a sip of the hot thing inside his cup. "What happened?" He said at the same time he swallowed.

I shook my head wildly as I went inside quickly. I was slouched in my chair.

"What happened?" He repeated and I noticed that he raised his voice.

"Mo . . . Mother . . . She . . . I saw her," my lips were quivering as I spoke. I was about to continue talking when he reacted.

"What?" He asked with complete confusion.

"Mom! I saw her! We talked about important things. She sa-"

"Did you just say 'mom'?" Father suddenly appeared and went out walking towards me. His expression was a strange mixture of  sadness and happiness. "She's alive?"

"Yes, Father! We talked about Ashmei, mostly. She said that the real enemy was her and the vampire who tried to kill her had a connection with her. Ashmei and Detina are sisters. They had a good relationship, but she said that Ash changed because of greediness for power. And then it took control over herself that she like forgot her own family and every good memory."

"So she's alive . . ." Father stared at the ground. "Where and how did you find her?"

"I don't know what's that place called, but I found it when I was trying to explore the forest again," I helplessly glanced at Tate whose expression was both happy and a hint of regret. I could only guess the reasons why were I kissed him or he kissed me and I left him and he didn't find me. "She's a nomad, Chris. She has no permanent home."

"She's hiding from her. How could her sister have such an absurd notion to want to kill her own sister?" He said with anger.

"That's madness!" Tate commented.

Father went toward the door but I blocked him. I held his hand and shook my head.

"Get out of my way, Selene," he told me. "I'm going to get your mother."

"Dad . . . Sit down. I'm gonna say everything to you. Every reason," I said. He sighed when he sat.

"Hasn't it occurred to you that I would leave her all along without any reason?" I sat by his side. "I left so she would live. If I stayed, she'd die. You know why? Because she pointed her claws on her neck and attempted a terrible attempt," I cleared my throat because I knew I was going to cry that was why my voice wasn't clear. "It's a sacrifice, Father. A hard sacrifice. And there was a price when I asked her for the truth. We had to leave Grezsatly."

He looked at me after he buried his face in his hands. "She cares about us so much, Selene. Your mother . . ."

"She did too many sacrifices already, Father. This time we are the ones who will do. That's the thing she wants us to know. We shouldn't be running away all our lives. I guess that was done. Right now, it is our time to fight that enemy. I'm done running and running." I'm sorry, Mother. I broke the deal. I betrayed the price.

"Everything has a limit. Nothing is limitless," Father agreed. He hugged me. "I'm proud of you, Selene. I really am."

"We will stay, won't we?" I leaned my head on his shoulder.

"Yes, of course. How does she look like?" He looked really eager to know.

I grinned about that. "To be honest with you, I mistook her for a crone,"—I almost couldn't say the word since they did not deserve it—"because she had ripped clothes and a dirt-filled face. But when I got close to her, I realized I was wrong. She was beautiful than me, Father. Way more beautiful than your daughter," I chuckled.

"I've told you. It wasn't a mistake loving her. Do you know my favorite part of her? Her face, Selene. It's just full of beauty," he had an 'in love' look.

I threw myself on my bed. I lay on my back with my hands clasped behind my head, my eyes staring at the ceiling. My emotions even ruined my feeling of willing-to-sleep. For ten minutes in total, I saw and witnessed my happiness. It was all I ever asked for—a complete family. A life living with a father and a mother. In the past, I thought I could mend the bond that separated me and Father from Mother. But now that trust to myself decreased. I let myself down.

Nothing was greater than seeing your mother when you never saw her.

I was a fool and a coward to leave her. Why did I waste it? The ten minutes in heaven. I lived my life waiting for it. And I left her again. That was the only choice left, Selene. I won't be able to see her again.

Thinking about that, I slapped my face twice, both sides and simultaneously crying uncontrollably. I shouldn't have left her. I should've defied her if I really wanted to go with her. Why, there were many options to do, Selene. I could have removed her claws from her neck and just pull her hand and run away again. It seemed simple, though, when you think about it.

But I had to fight another enemy, Mother. Besides, The Elder said this was not yet the right time to face Ashmei. Maybe soon. Maybe later. Or maybe not at all.
