We were at the forest where the path to Grezsatly goes. We decided to go just at the edge of the forest beside the road. Fogs were on the way. "What if I drink the blood of a human that has a disease or cancer?" I asked. That made sense, didn't it?

"A vamp's immune system is five times better than a human's. That only means your body can resist the disease," he declared. "Can you sense something, Selene?"

"I do," I nodded as I stared at a human walking alone in front of them who was just feet away.

"He's all yours," he even bowed his head as if I was a royal person or something.

My eyes widened. "He's all mine? Are you kidding me? No way, Abel. There is no way in hell am I going to murder a human," I told him with complete rejection. I swore that.

I tried to walk faster to ignore him and that feeling, but he quickly grabbed me by the wrist. "Killing is part of living, Selene. You will not live for long if you don't want to hunt."

"It's just about hunting. But not about that innocent man!" I would gladly hunt. But not this man, please.

"I know how much you loathe to kill. Bu-"

"Why can't we just go to Grezsatly and hunt deers if I need blood, huh?!"

"Because your blood has to be replaced with human blood, Selene! And believe me or not, hunting a human being is our obligation. It is part of our tradition as a vampire."

But which side would I choose? I was half-human and hell, half-vampire. Half-innocent and good, and half-impure and wicked. For the first phase of my life, I led a life of being a child of God. I was made with dust, I was baptized with pure and holy water. I was innocent, pure, clean, and good.

But for the second and last phase, I was living a life of being a child of Satan. I am a black shadow that kills without any mercy. I am perfectly impure at things, and wicked. I suck the blood of every living creature on Earth, and I consume humans until I get satisfied. This is what I am made of and this is what I am made for. And for being a vampire wight, I had to obey and follow every tradition and task of being one.

Balking is betraying.

I began walking towards the man who was walking beside the road with a very big backpack on his back. He was probably a hitchhiker.

"I think it'll be better if you use your power to run fast," he whispered and let go of his own grip.

Silent as a shadow. I silently walked. I was getting closer.

I prepped myself when I was finally behind his back. I leaped into the air and rode on his body, particularly on his shoulders, my legs could scarcely stick on his torso. If this went all wrong, my legs would be tangled and I could get serious injuries. The man tilted his head, then he turned around and squirmed a couple of times to lose me. I tightened my legs because those were my only hope not to fall. His backpack could somehow help me.

The man was desperate. He was turning around as his hands struggled to reach me. I tried to avoid those and I was very fortunate to be successful.

My claws was there, and summoning my courage, I stabbed the human. Balking is betraying.

"Oh my God. . ." I whispered as I stared at the corpse.

Abel went toward us. "Help me carry him before anyone can see us."

I helped him carry the man into the forest, into the bushes where we could not be seen. "I'm so sorry." Still a whisper. I think I had lost my voice.

I looked at Abel because he wasn't responding. I didn't know that he was already giving me a lingering look. His hands were on his hips, and he was grinning weirdly. He shook his head. "I would never forget any of this. You were such a mysterious girl, Selene. You may never know what will happen to you. For the last second in that argument, I thought you were gonna leave me. But you actually turned your back and did the right thing. Those swift moves. . . How could you?"
