We were home, resting on those comfy and soft couches. I almost fell asleep when there were continuous sounds of knocks at the door that interrupted my sleepiness. I knew they were only Vanessa and Lucas because I called them earlier. "What happened?" Lucas asked right after I opened the door.

"Come on in first."

The couple went in without any response, then sat on the couch with us. "Have you also been followed in the park?" I asked worriedly. I was thinking about Vanessa.

"Followed by who?" Vanessa furrowed an eyebrow.

"Spies, hunters," Abel answered quickly. His expression was constant.

"No. But, what are you guys trying to tell us?" Lucas asked with no knowledge at what we were talking about.

'It's hard to explain, Lu. Just try to understand the current situation!" He looked seriously mad at them.

"Okay, man. Calm down. Calm down."

I glared at Abel. "How can he understand this situation if you don't even try to explain it to them?!"

He sighed.

"If what you're telling us is true, then give us some possible reasons why they're doing this," Lucas said.

Abel looked at me when he should be looking at Luke. "There are vampires around the world, Rissa. The most possible thing I believe is that our big secret has been, you know, spilled."

"If they know we exist, why do they want to hunt us? Are we even a threat to them or something?" Vanessa had a point.

"Maybe they're not hunting us at all. Maybe they're ju-" I was interrupted by Lucas who turned the tv on suddenly.

"Hey, check this out," Lucas said as he stared at the tv. All of our eyes obeyed and rolled there. I knew I was right. It was news saying that a deadly virus had been introduced in just the city and that it could be highly contagious. But I still asked this: "What kind of disease is that?"

"Heaven knows, Rissa," Vanessa shrugged.

"For all I know, we might be infected with that shit. But wait a minute," Lucas took his phone out of his pocket. There were a couple of taps and sounds. "I've searched the disease on google, nothing here," he said, then immediately kept his cellphone back into his pocket.

"That's why most of the people there wore special masks in the park," I half-whispered to no one in particular.

Abel quickly got up from his seat, then looked at me. "You're right!" He interjected.

"If we did not wear masks unlike the people there outside, maybe that's why the man followed us. Maybe he wondered why!"

"There has to be another reason why, Clarissa. What's the point of following us if the only reason is why we did not wear those damn masks?" he said.

"That's what happened? You had been followed by a complete stranger?"

I nodded.

"Clarissa is right. It may be possible for him to wonder why they didn't wear masks," she glanced at Abel.

"But, it wasn't all of 'em. Not even half of the people did," he protested. "And besides, we're vampires. Our immune system is strong and we can easily resist that disease." He said, folding his arms as he gave a confident look.

"What about Lucas?" I instantly noticed that every living creature here were vampires. Only one was human.

"What do you mean?" Vanessa asked with a frown.

"What if he has the disease now? Or will have it?" I asked with fear and worries. Vanessa stared at the floor, and felt worried too. There was a short silence.

"I guess we have to infect him, too. Since vampires are strong to resist the disease," she said. Although the disease had just been introduced, the big problem is that it's highly contagious.

"We can't," Abel said in his low voice.

"Why not?" I stood and folded my arms. "It's not like we're going to wait for this shit to infect him and then that's the time we'll bite him, Abel. We shouldn't be waiting for a late time."

Anger rose in his face. "I will not risk her infecting one more human and wait for her to faint and sleep for days!"

Lucas and Vanessa kept silent. "There's nothing wrong if we do it," Vanessa softly said.

"Fine," Abel finally said. "Let's just get this over with!"

"Hey, you don't have to do this, everybody," Lucas uttered, raised his voice. "It's okay if I'm not allowed to be infected or something like that," he toned his voice to normal. "The only and important thing I have to do is just to be vigilant."

I ignored what he said. "Come on, Lucas. Let's get this done now."

"No, Rissa. I'll be the one to," Vanessa volunteered.

"No, I've got the skills, Nessa. You don't."

"Clarisse, you've already bitten me. And that means you felt the pain. Now, it's got to be me now," she looked at Luke. "And I have to take those risks, Lucas."

"We're not safe here. We should go back to Grezsatly," Abel told me. I easily nodded because I thought about my safety. I definitely didn't want to see people suffering from that thing.
