"Dad, can you treat him?" Due to panic, my voice was raised.

He just watched all of us, staring with his same confused look.

"Yeah, we have an emergency. Sorry for the inconvenience," I said because I already knew that he was about to ask.

"Well, it's a good thing I've brought my kit with us," he said and hastily went to the kitchen to grab some of his medical supplies. He closed the cabinet then came back to the living room. Tate put the Elder down on the couch.

"No, bring him upstairs to the vacant room," he instructed then began wearing his stethoscope.

Tate grunted as he lifted his portly body, Abel and Eilif went to help. They went upstairs as quick as they could to minimize their efforts.

I let them go to the room beside Tate's before going in. I knew I was just a disturbance there that was why I thought about going as far from the room as possible. But my stubborn part told me to standby just out of the room.

They put the Elder's body slowly on the single bed with plain white sheets. They instinctively exited the room and stood beside me.

"My back's aching," Tate complained as he tried to exercise his arms, rotating it clockwise.

I did not make a reply since I didn't know what to give. I just nodded.

"What happened to him?" Father asked me after he checked everything that was needed to be check. "There are stabs. Light ones. And a couple of scratches. Vampire scratches.

"His village got attacked. And they burned the whole place, leaving everyone dead. Except for him."

"He's stable. Very stable. The only thing he needs is a full rest for his wounds to get better," he informed us as he looked at everyone.

But another friend of Tate suddenly came in. "Tate, one of us has been injured fighting the vampires," Luna said as she took deep weary breaths.

"Did they come back?" I gasped.

She glanced at me and nodded her head. "They waited for you to be gone. And then they attacked."

"Okay, let's go," he said without saying goodbye to anyone. They both went away and were immediately heard going down the wooden stairs.

I glared at no one as I exited the house. I was crying again when I ran hurriedly, escaping the bafflement my heart was feeling. Okay, I admit I didn't understand whatever happened this day.

Again, I was blaming myself for the whole thing that happened. What if telling those things had a price? And that price was multiple counts of death? The tragedy made me think that I shouldn't have went to the village, for the reason that those secrets were supposed to be well hidden. Maybe I was never meant to see how Mother died.

And speaking of that, it was possible that the ones who attacked were the kin of the suspect. It was not impossible that there was a vampire who could have the same ability as Angeni. Or close to that. What if they saw that I finally knew about Mother's death? And of course, that I saw her gravestone?

I would never stop running. Never ever. Not until I arrive at the Elder's Village. But meeting the enemy made me more excited. Let's see, you son of a gun. . . How the game works.

I am not afraid of any of you. And why would I be in the first place?

My eyes couldn't stop from shedding more tears. Those tears falling that were incessantly falling only represented every innocent life wasted. Every woman, child, babe only died for nothing if I wasn't going to kill that fucking foe.
