We ran away from the enemies. And we definitely lost our friends. As we continued to run, a sudden heavy feet filled both our ears and it were so loud that I stopped from running. I turned slowly, revealing the same vampire I had seen earlier.

He smiled a villain-y smile. Abel was by my side, looking at me confusingly. "Let's go now!" He said. "Look at me!" Abel moved his head.

My eyebrows were wrinkled when I looked at him absently.

"Please, Selene. Please," he begged.

I blinked both my eyes as if this was the first time I was aware of the reality.

We ran, knowing that the man was still behind, chasing us. "Run faster." His voice was shaky and echoing. Then there were big shadows heading for our direction, so suddenly. It was so far, but it was running for us real fast.

Between those trees were two gigantic shadows that didn't even shape like a human, nor a vampire. Far more than a deer, or a horse, or an elk. Rumbling sounds followed. Werewolves were coming for us.

But we continued to run fast, ignoring the werewolves and so quick as if my feet were already immune to the pain. I saw Alex, his pale brown fur, who wouldn't recognize him? He was the only one who had that color in the pack. But I was just wondering how they knew about this. Most likely a coincidence.

Rumbling and echoing sounds of dog whimpers and vampire screams haunted our ears as we persisted to run. Those screams meant that they weren't only fighting one vampire, but more than one. I looked around and recognized the surroundings, I was near my house.

Both of us were on our ankles, catching our breaths when we arrived. "I'm so worried about Tate," I said after I rested.

He was tired as well that he didn't answer quickly. He sat on the grasses. "He'll be okay."

I walked and climbed on the small stairs eventually. I opened the door and didn't knock. "Why are you sweating?" Chris asked.

"I'm tired. From running," I told him and I already went inside without asking for his permission.

"Running?" He repeated with a frown.

"We were chased, Chris," Abel explained beside me sitting on the couch in the living room.

"We lost our friends," I said.

"What?!" Chris said. "Tell us what happened."

I took a deep breath. "Vanessa and Lucas are here. And they decided to live here because they were infected already. So we accompanied them to find some nice view for their house," I told them and scratched my nose unavoidably. Sweat problems. "And then vampires started appearing, coming down from the trees and began chasing us like hungry monsters."

"What is wrong with them, anyway?"

"I don't know. No one knows."

"Going out to the forest at night is completely dangerous, Selene. How many times do I have to tell you that?"

"I'm sorry, Father. I was about to tell Lys . . . I mean Vanessa that but she just wanted a better place for their dream home here. I'm sorry for not telling them that thing."

"Okay. But promise me you'll not do this again or I wi-"

"Dad, I'm here. Safely inside your house."

I stood and went upstairs. I threw myself once again on the bed, but it felt different today. I felt like the heaviest rock nobody couldn't ever carry or even lift.

"You don't feel perfectly safe, Selene," Abel said. I couldn't see him through the utter darkness. I felt the bed shaking as he laid beside me. "Now, I'm going to make it perfectly safe."
