"How?" I finally spoke. Tate went beside me then stole a furtive glance at his best friend. I watched as the trees sway. "Just discovered it while playing with the pack," he answered. I stared down and I could almost fall and spread my wings and fly with the birds and eagles. There was a short silence, no one could even speak first without taking a peek at the nature.
"You must really love these kind of things," he glanced at me. This guy spoke like it was his first time to meet me.
"Are you kidding me? I absolutely do. My jaw dropped."
I turned then faced him directly in the eye to give him a hug. I only give hugs to people who make me so happy. It was time to thank him because I really liked the view. "Thank you, Tate," I whispered to his ear.
We both caught a moment together, staring at each other perfectly. He neared his head, then kissed me on the lips all of a sudden. I did not even flinch, nor stopped him. I was surprised at my own decision.
It was so complicated, my mind was full of thoughts, and so I just stopped from doing it. "No," I whispered, it was so quiet that no one even heard it. Not even myself.
"What?" He asked. He looked like he got the best kiss despite the kisses he had gotten from the girls in our school.
"I'm just so sorry, Tate," I tilted my head, then immediately went away, leaving him all alone. I couldn't love two persons at the same time, Tate. I'm sorry.
I was still in earshot when he said things. "Wait," he chased. "It's okay, I understand. And I'm more sorry than you," he told me. I knew that he loved and will always love me.
I jogged down the slope, slowly but surely. Because the forest was so big, I got lost once again. This was the Blue Forest, this is where I get lost. I didn't much care about that fact, as long as I forget what happened to us. Not including the place I saw, besides, it was hard for anyone to forget the place.
I explored the clearing, touching every branch as I went. The temperature abruptly changed to a colder one. As I walked slowly, the cool wind rose, making every tree sway once more. Making every leaf fall. Making those brown and dead leaves on the ground fly and hover in the air.
I closed my eyes as I stopped from walking. The air was incredibly carrying me. The air then stopped, making every thing go back to normal. That magical moment just vanished all along. It was a very quick moment, happening in just three heartbeats.
There was a sound of footsteps coming near me that interrupted my daydream. I cocked my head, but it was impossible for anyone to see who it was. The trees and bushes obscured the view, practically everything. The only person that I was with that time was Tate, so it was probable that that person was him.
But I felt in my guts that there was one more person. Because if it was really him, I would knew that he'd immediately show up. I sniffed, trying to recognize that smell, but it was the strangest one. It wasn't a wolf, but a vampire. So I felt fear inside me, running quicker than usual. Not a male vampire, but a woman smell. If it ever was Cal or Angeni, I would know. Vampires would always recognize their friends' scent.
Footfalls followed me as I ran faster. That stranger was simply chasing me. What if it was a spy? Worse, a vampire spy?
I was totally worried, my heart beating fast. I jogged straight, it didn't matter for me anymore where fate will lead me. I did not recognize the clearing, the place was new to me. But the temperature did not change. I knew that I would be easily found, the sound of her footsteps on the rotten leaves on the ground were barely helping me run away from that mysterious person.
As soon as I ran, I discovered a small, wooden cabin to my far left. I stopped and looked over my shoulder for a very short while. I really had to think fast, whether to go inside to hide or just run as fast as I could. Both would have the same outcome: danger.
That vampire was far from me because I didn't hear any strange sounds or even smelled a scent anymore. I was too tired from running, and tired from thinking.
I continued to jog along the way, it was later that I discovered that it was a trap. The thing my both eyes could see was a deep cliff. I immediately stopped, and I almost fell. The person chasing me did not quit, the scent came back.
There wasn't any place I could go but the house I just found. Bushes and thick trees wouldn't help me. I went back there, then decided to hide and trespass inside. If there was anyone who lived there, either bad or good, I just had to be ready for any sign of trouble.
I hoped my choice was somehow going to save me—just for the moment. I entered, opening the door and almost slammed closing it due to panic and too much fear. The inside was so dark, but beautiful in the simplest way. As I looked around, there was gratefully no one inside.
There was a small table at my left, just beside and near the door. I realized that I was in a danger, so I hid under a table that was completely covered with opaque cloth—the only thing nearest. There was no time to explore the house. Not even with my eyes!
And because of the anxiousness I was feeling within, the outcome was perspiration, and barely breathing. There was a creaking sound, the door finally opened. I tried to stick my feet to my torso, my position almost fit to be inside a baggage. I was thankful to be flexible because that was part of my sport.
There was a small hole on the cloth that I could precisely peek through. Although it was tiny, at least I could see things. It was a woman who entered, and I incredibly recognized that scent. I was finding the right time where I could escape through that door just a few feet away.
That woman was the person following me.
