Vesper finishes her drink before me, and I start to drink quicker so she doesn't have to wait forever.

A phone buzzes, but I know that it isn't mine. I don't feel the vibration in my pocket. My eyes flicker up to Vesper, watching as she shifts and pulls her phone from her back pocket.

Her eyes narrow and one brow raises. "...what?" A whisper comes from her in disbelief as she reads whatever the message is.

"What's up?" I ask before letting my lips touch the straw again. I take another sip. Vesper groans and rolls her eyes, shaking her head.

"Fricking Louis got sick." She stands up. "My father is coming to pick me up, because they work tomorrow and someone has to watch him."

"Don't they have a babysitter?" I tilt my head, wondering why the babysitter can't just watch her youngest brother.

"She doesn't watch kids that are sick, for her own sake." Vesper shrugs her jacket onto her body and huffs in frustration. "So I'm the one being put under the risk, even though Elena is perfectly old enough to watch them." She grumbles and stuffs her phone back into her pocket.

"Wait, is he picking you up tomorrow?" I lean forward, confused as to why she's getting up and ready now.

"No." Vesper snaps, glaring irritably at the door. "He's coming now." I feel a frown crawl onto my face.

"What about your stuff?" I ask. I stand up at her side, quickly finishing off the last of my drink and setting the empty cup on the table, the straw sliding freely along the rim of the cover. "It's at my house."

I pull my jacket on as Vesper stalks towards the door with me following. "He said he can bring us both there."

"Oh," I sigh and nod slowly. It's pretty disappointing that she can't stay over for another night. "I should probably text David, then."

"Yeah." Vesper mumbles and stalks through the door. "I'm so fed up with this four siblings crap."

I nod and pull my own phone out of my pocket, scanning until I reach David's contact.

Blaine: vesper's dad is picking us up. her brother got sick and she has to babysit tomorrow.

I don't expect a response immediately. But he'll probably just leave me on read, so I don't know why I think I should expect a response at all.

"You're kind of lucky," I try to cheer her up by forcing myself to chuckle. "I don't have more than one sibling so the focus is half the time on me. You have siblings that help distract from you."

"Not true." She growls. I frown and look at her. "I'm the oldest, so nobody forgets me. They're always asking about school because I have to be that kid that sets the example for everyone."

"Oh... I guess that makes sense." I shrug. "But doesn't Louis interrupt a lot?"

"Yeah, he does. They shut him up, but it's still super annoying." The two of us stand outside the door, out of the way, as we wait for her father to pull up in his truck.
