Around when Robbie was twenty one or so...
__________It was around ten o'clock when I got a call from my best friend Robert. I answered the call, as I ate chips on my couch.
"Hey, what's up?" I said, crunching.
"Nothing much, hey wanna hang tonight?" He asked.
"Uh, yeah sure. I'm not doing much anyway."
"Ok then, I'll pick you up."
"Ok. Wait, I know how you are Rob. Are we going to do some crazy shit or something?" I asked, cocking my head.
"Maybe." I can sense his smirk. "Can't say but you'll find out when I pick you up." Robert said.
"Fine."
"Oh, and don't forget to wear all black." He said.
"Robert--"
"Just kidding, wear whatever." He said, laughing.
"Oh my god." I said, shaking my head.
"My god too! See you in a bit." Robert said, as the line went silent. I smiled at his remark, as I put my phone down to change into different clothes.
Robert and I have been friends since ninth grade, and I've always had the biggest crush on him. I still do, to this day. I wish he felt the same about me. But I guess I was friend zoned.
I put on my favorite outfit, and waited for Robert to come. About eight minutes later, I heard a loud car horn in the front of my apartment, and I immediately knew who it was.
I headed outside, and I saw Robert leaning on the side of his Chevy Camero, smoking a cigarette. He wore a black leather jacket, with a striped shirt, along with faded blue jeans ripped at the knees and black combat boots.
I could tell he was tired, but he kept the car on while he waited out front. He looked so damn hot.
"Hey baddie." I said, chuckling.
"Oh whatever." He laughed, as he helped me in the car. He went to his side, and also got in. He shifted gears, and off we went to wherever he wanted to go.
"Ok, so where we going. You never told me." I said, as I looked in the car mirror, putting lipstick on.
"To a place." He said, as I looked over and playfully hit his arm.
"Come on Rob." I chuckled.
"Ok ok, it's just a drive. I don't even know where I'm going, I just wanted to be with you." Robert looked over, and back to the road. I put my lipstick away, and watched as he drove.
"Aww isn't that sweet." I said, playfully. I tried the fact that I was exploding with happiness when he said that, I had to keep my cool.
"I'll turn the car around, and take you back home, don't start." He laughed, as I smiled.
"Okie dokie." I said, as I looked out the window. Robert pressed a button that was on the top, near the sunroof. Suddenly, the hood of the car went back.
My hair was blowing in the wind, and so was his. His wrist was draped over the steering wheel, as his other arm dangled off the side of the car door. He looked like perfection.
He felt me staring and looked over.
"What?" He smiled. "I got a hickey or something?" I giggled.
"No, I was looking at my best friend. Can a gal do that these days?" He chuckled.
"A gal can." He shrugged, looking back at the road. Lights from buildings, billboards, and shops illuminated the road.
I noticed the longer he drove, the less of the city I saw. We were driving out, like way out. I saw a beach come into view, as his headlights led the way. There were a long street of similar houses, and large trees on the other side.
Robert turned right, heading into the beach entrance. He parked his car on the sand, and looked over.
"This is the best I can do. Everything else was closed." He rubbed his neck.
"It's beautiful out here Robert, I love it." I smiled.
"Ok." He smiled back. "Hey, um you want something? I'm gonna go get a beer, want one?" He asked.
"No, I'll take a orange juice. There needs to be at least one alcohol free person." We laughed.
"Well that's damn true." He said, getting out the car heading to the bar. I got out, and sat on the hood on the front of his car. I looked up at the stars as I waited.
Minutes later, Robert came back with his beer and my orange juice. He joined me on the hood, as we drank; looking out at the calm sea.
"I missed this. We used to come around here all the time." Robert said.
"Yeah, I remember. We came here after we always used to steal your parents liquor." I said, as we laughed.
"Oh my god the memories." He smiled.
"Ya know..." I took a sip of my drink. "If I can stay anywhere in the world, I would love to stay in one of those houses on the tree street." I said, pointing in back of us. "And I'll just stare at this day in and day out." I motioned over to the moonlit sea.
"By yourself?" He asked, drinking his beer.
"Well, if I don't find someone then... yeah I guess." I shrugged.
"Maybe that person is already found but you just don't know it yet..."
"What do you mean?"
"Like, the person you've been looking for is already in your life." He took another sip.
"Maybe..." I said, knowing damn well that I wanted him to be my love. He scooted closer to me and hold me close.
"Y/N... I've been wanting to tell you this for the longest. I never had the courage, but now I need to do what's right." He said, as I looked into his eyes.
"Us becoming friends, that was the best thing that ever happened to me. But I always wished that we weren't friends. I wish we were more then just that. I love you Y/N, and I wanted you to know that." Robert said, as I continued to look at him.
My stomach was fluttering with butterflies as I heard him say he loved me. I didn't know what to say, I was just so happy to hear that I wasn't the only one who felt that way.
I pressed my lips on his suddenly. Robert responded, and placed his hand on my cheek. I grabbed his leather jacket by the collar, and pulled him closer. I pulled away slowly, and we locked eyes.
"I felt the same way." I said, quietly.
"I see." He smiled. Robert kissed me, and I ran my hand through his perfect hair. Without breaking the kiss, I wrapped my legs around him as he got me off the hood. He opened the door to the back of his car, and laid me on the backseat.
His body hovered over mine, as he broke the kiss.
"I love you." I said.
"I love you too... always have, and always will." He kissed me again, as his hand found it's way under my clothes...
Time skip...
Robert and I sat in the backseat panting like we ran a marathon. It was around twelve thirty, so Robert decided on driving me home.
We put our clothes back on, and went to the front. He started the car, and off we went back onto gray streets. We sang to Steely Dan songs as I stuck my head out the window, enjoying the wind in my hair.
