We arrived at the castle, and we walked up to the entrance.

My heart was racing. I was scared to know what the king had to tell me. I didn't want to think the worst, but that's the only thought that I had.

The doors opened, and we walked in. This is the first time I've seen the castle so vacant. It seemed much, much larger than before.

"My lady, the king shall be in his office." Jacob said, his voice echoing in the room. "Just go down that side hall, and take a left."

"Thank you." I nodded.

"Before you go, do you need anything? Food, water?"

"No thank you, but I appreciate the offer." I smiled.

"Very well my lady." He bowed, and walked away.

I headed down the hall and my footsteps was all I heard. I held my hands together, and close to my chest as I walked.

I approached the door, and knocked. I lowered my head, and waited.

The door opened, and there stood the king, wearing his kingly robes.

"My king." I said, bending my knees before him, and looking up.

"Lady y/n, it's wonderful to see you here. Please do come in." He said, and held the door for me as I went to take a seat. The king came and sat across from me.

"I was told you wished to speak to me by Jacob. My king, please let it be only good news." I said.

"Well, a part is, but it's only a factor from tragedy." He sighed.

"Oh no... Please." I shook my head.

"Now, now. I do understand you love my son, and I know what you're thinking. My boy has not come back, but I do believe he may not be dead."

"Since battles can last for weeks, months, or maybe even years, time can only tell the truth."

"But in worse case scenario, my wife and I had made a arrangement for you in our kingdom." He said.

"An arrangement?" I asked.

"Yes young lady. We've decided that if my son wouldn't make it from the battle, then you would become the next in line for the kingdom. Since the prince was our only child, and all other family is deceased, it's only logical to think of you next." He explained.

"I'm sorry, I-- I can't possibly..." I began.

"Of course you can y/n. We believe that you would be fit to be in line. Please accept our decision. We wouldn't want anyone else to hold the throne."

I looked away, and began to play with my nails. This is big, absolutely huge. But I don't see myself doing anything else without Robert. And let's not think about what my mother would say or do... my god. What shall I say?

"I'll accept it my king, but I'll have you understand that if there is no prince, then the kingdom will remain ruled by only a princess. I will refuse any other man who wishes to elope." I said.

"That's all fair young lady, just as long as you care and protect for the kingdom."

"Then that's what I'll do, only if that's necessary. I believe the prince will return home." I looked at him.

"I too believe young lady." He nodded.

"And for as that night, I'm quite ashamed for it. I'm sorry for the actions of myself and my mother." I said.

"No need for apology. A mother has the right to act in such ways. But I shall apologize for some words I spoke to your mother. I'm terribly sorry."

"It's alright..." I said. "My mother once said she knew you and your ways, and I just wanted to know how you knew my mother."

"Oh, well your mother and I once was together. This was 18 years ago." He shifted in his seat. "I can't remember what I've done, but I do remember that I wronged her. She loved me dearly, as I did too, but what I've done made her leave. She wished to never see me again."

"That was the first I've saw her in a long time. I really didn't know what to say to her, but I had to defend myself when she took a shot at me. Her words were quite damaging, but I could understand why. That's probably why she doesn't trust me, and my son."

"She has a like father like son mentality. I can't change it." I sighed.

"Well, she has her reason. So, let her be."

"Love conquers all, does it not?" I asked. "One day she has to come to realize."

"Yes, just as I had to realize. But we aren't going to speak of that." He said.

"Oh, well it's been lovely speaking with you my king, but I'm afraid I must be leaving." I said, getting up.

"Alright then, and it was my pleasure." He smiled. "Safe travels, and we'll be sure to inform you of anything else that occurs."

"Thank you." I bent my knees again, and turned to leave.

I headed out the castle, and walked towards Henry who stood there patiently.

It wasn't until I was ready to get on Henry that I thought of what the king just said.

This was 18 years ago...

I stopped and looked at Henry.

"I never knew my father...No, this cannot be..." I said. My eyes began to go wide. "I'm 18... Henry, I'm 18." I began to shake my head.

"Oh my God." I had a shocked expression on my face. I quickly mounted Henry, and we raced home.

This cannot be true, this cannot be. I repeated those words in my head over and over again.
