Glasses

There I sat. Outside, and enjoying the sun along with a good book and a cup of iced tea. I had my reading glasses on under the protection of a beach umbrella, laying on a lounge chair.

I changed the page, completely interested in this chapter I was reading. I heard the patio door open behind me, and footsteps coming closer to me.

I already knew who it was.

My boyfriend, Robert, sat beside me on the nearby chair, and looked at me with admiration.

"Yes baby?" I said, keeping my eyes on the book.

"Nothing just admiring you." He said.

"Having fun?" I giggled.

"A blast." I saw him smile from my peripheral. "But I think it's about time you put the book down." He crossed his arms.

"Nope, no can do." I said.

"Why not?"

"Because I'm not finished with this chapter yet." I responded.

"But you can finish that anytime." Robert said, leaning closer to me. "Pwease." He acted like a child.

"Nope." I popped the 'p'.

"Well, I'll just do this--" He reached over, and gently took my glasses off.

"Robert!" I said, giggling. He held it close, and gave me a smile.

"You want it back?" He asked.

"Yes."

"Then give me a kiss." I smiled, then leaned over to give him a kiss. I then stuck my hand out to get my glasses.

"Glasses please." I said, and Robert got up from his seat. "Hey, no fair! Give them back!" I said, placing my book down and getting up to follow him.

I chased him around the backyard, careful not to fall into the pool.

He stopped running, and I caught up to him. He held his arm up high with the glasses in his hand, and laughed.

I was shorter then him, so I was jumping up to grab them.

"Aw, you almost had it. You gotta be quicker than that." He said, laughing as he dangled the glasses high.

"Shut up." I laughed, hitting him playfully in his chest.

"Ok, I'll give it back." He said. He put his arm down, and held the glasses out.

I reached to grab them, then he quickly moved his hand.

"You thought." He laughed again. When he was too busy laughing I used the opportunity to get payback. I pushed Robert into the pool, heard a loud splash.

I laughed out loud, as Robert came back to the surface. His hair was flat on his head, and my glasses was in his mouth.

I continued to laugh, as he came to the edge and placed my glasses on the concrete.

"Someone let their guard down." I said, giggling. Robert ran his hand through his hair, and shrugged.

"Yeah, yeah." He said. "Help me out." Robert reached his arm out for me to help him.

"Fine." I said, grabbing his hand. Then suddenly, I was pulled into the pool with him.

I came back up, and ran my hand through my hair.

"That was shady!" I said, laughing as I pushed the water in his direction. He laughed and swam towards me.

"Look at what you did to me!" He said, also laughing.

We were in the center of the pool together, and our laughs slowly died down. We looked into each other's eyes, and moved closer.

He looked so handsome, and I was proud to be his. I could tell he was admiring me again. It made me smile.

My body was against his, and he pulled me in his embrace.

"I love you honey." He said, kissing me.

"I love you too." I said, as I laid my head on his shoulder.
