"--And don't forget that there will be a quiz on Monday!" My math teacher, Mr. Hiddleston, shouted as the bell for dismissal filled the school.
I grabbed my things, and walked out to the crowded hallway. Everyone was waiting to go home, or have fun and hang out with their friends after school, but I'm over here worrying about dumb after school detention.
I had better things to do. Serving after school detention was definitely not my plan for the day. Anyways, I can look forward to seeing Mr. Gardener.
"Hey." I looked over, and saw Charlie walking by my side. I sighed.
"What do you want."
"Well, sorry I said hi."
"You got me in god damn trouble! I have after school detention." He stayed silent for a second.
"I'm sorry." Charlie stopped me, and held my shoulders. "Listen, I can make it up to you, ok? We can do whatever you want on the weekend... Movies, shopping, whatever you want I'll do it with you to make it up."
"Charlie--"
"Nope, no objections. We're hanging tommorow." He said.
"You can't make me." I laughed, playfully hitting his arm.
"Come on, I feel bad." He pouted.
"Alright, alright." I smiled.
"Thanks." Charlie said, giving me a big hug. My chin rested on his shoulder. I looked towards Mr. Gardener's office, and saw him leaning on the door frame with his arms crossed. He looked annoyed.
I ended the hug, and looked into his eyes.
"I gotta go..." I said.
"Ok, see you tomorrow." He nodded. Charlie began to walk away, until he turned back around to face me. "I'll pick you up!" He shouted, and I giggled while nodding.
"Loud much?" I said under my breath, smiling. I walked over to Mr. Gardener's office, and he still had that annoyed expression on his face. I went past him, and entered his office.
I sat down, and placed my bag on the floor. He closed the door, and went to his desk; taking a seat. I took my phone out, and started to scroll through my social media.
"This isn't your first detention, I don't understand why you feel the need to use an electronic device knowing that's against the rules." Mr. Gardener said.
I looked up from my phone, and rolled my eyes; putting my phone away.
"Are you trying to make me angry?" He asked, leaning forward on the desk.
"Not at all." I said plainly. He leaned back.
"So, tell me... What's up between you and Bartlett?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Are you two like, dating or something?"
"No, and if we were, why would that even concern you?" I cocked my head to the side.
"You're right... Why would it?" He shrugged, loosening his tie. "I guess I can't stop being concerned for the people that I seem to like."
What did I just hear? Did he-- no way. Could he mean 'like' as a friend or 'like' as a... oh my god. I cleared my throat, and looked out the window.
"You seem uncomfortable." Mr. Gardener said, as I looked back at him. The top button on his shirt was undone, and the way he looked made butterflies appear in my stomach.
"I'm not, just thinking..." I said.
"About what exactly?" He asked. Shit, great. Now what do I say? I can't just say 'I'm thinking about if you like me as a friend or a girlfriend'.
"Is the detention almost over?" I asked, trying to change the subject. He gave me a questioning look.
"Detention started only five minutes ago. Are you in a rush Miss Y/N?" He asked. The way he said my name made my face flush a shade of pink.
"I could be." I responded.
"Well that's a shame." Just as he spoke my phone vibrated. I looked at Mr. Gardener, and back at the phone.
He rolled his eyes, and spoke.
"Check it." He said. I picked up my phone, and saw it was a text from Charlie.
New message from LeeBear🤓
I'm going to bail you from detention. The next message I send, show it to Mr. Asshole, and change my contact to 'Mom'. 👌🏽I looked back up at Mr. Gardener.
"Who is it?" He asked. My phone went off again.
New message from LeeBear🤓
Y/N get down here immediately, something terrible happened. I can't explain now, just come quickly.I quickly changed his contact to 'Mom', and showed it to him.
"It's my mother." I said, holding the phone to him. "It seems like I really have to go." I tried to seem like I was sad.
He read the message, and looked back at me. He looked as though he knew it was a fake text, but it seemed like he couldn't make it out. I swallowed my saliva.
"It seems so." He said, a little unsure. Mr. Gardener stood up, and so did I. I grabbed my bag, and followed him to the door. He rested his hand on the door knob, but he didn't open it.
He faced me, and we were closer then ever. I could feel his warm breath tickle my face.
"I hope everything is ok..." He paused. "If that really is your mother."
"Why wouldn't it be?"
"Just saying, teens fake stuff sometimes." He said, as I agreed with him in my mind. Damn right about that.
We continued to lock eyes. At this point, I couldn't hold back. I could feel myself ready to do anything to feel his lips on my own. I knew deep down inside my body was begging for his touch.
We were inches apart. The office was lightly dimmed from the partly closed blinds on the windows. Our faces were slowly moving towards each other.
No, no, no! I can't kiss my principal. I kept thinking I couldn't do it, I have to pull away. But I couldn't find a way to stop myself. This is what I wanted.
Suddenly, his lips were on my own; moving perfectly together. The kiss was slow, but was getting heated. I felt his hands moved down my back, as my hands found their way to his fluffy hair.
He slowly pulled away, and looked at me with his hazel eyes; a little out of breath.
"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have--" I cut him off, giving him another kiss.
"I have to go." I said, placing my hand on his cheek. He nodded, and I opened the door. I walked out, thought. He kissed me.
