"Stand ready." I said, as I sat upon my horse in front of my troops. We were uptop a hill, staring at the enemies about 100 yards from us.
My assistant, George, stayed beside me. His horse seemed impatient.
I was filled with fear at this moment. The events in this battle may be the last memories I'll ever know. But, the fear I felt deep inside me was never shown. What leader will I be if it did?
"Are you sure, sir?" George asked, looking at me. "This may be a long battle."
"I've never been more sure, and if it's a long battle, then we shall come out triumphant in the end." I responded, but I felt my palms getting sweaty.
"Young Prince!..." The enemy leader shouted from across the land. "A gruesome battle doesn't have to be the outcome! A negotiation would be alot more civil!"
"My father and the kingdom tried to negotiate for years on end, and that never worked! What makes you think it will now?!" I shouted back. "We came for the end of our differences, and a battle is the only solution!"
"Your cause may end your existence, but that's what I'm here for!" He shouted. "You're nothing like your father. I had no respect for him, and I will have none for you! Die of shame if need be!"
"How dare he?" I said, clenching my jaw. George looked at me.
Anger brew inside me. He wants me dead. He always wished me death.
"Swords up!" He said to his troops. A sea of men raised their swords in the air.
"Swords skyward!" I said, and my troops rose their weapons in the air. My horse went up on its hind legs, and nayed. "Charge!" I yelled.
My troops, and I rode our strong horses down the hill, towards the enemies coming towards us.
There was a uproar of men yelling, and stomps of the horses as they ran.
Many men hopped off their horses to have the ground battle. They ran to each other and got close enough, that the sound of swords clinking together was heard.
A enemy ran towards me, and I got off my horse. I blocked his first slash with my sword, and slightly knocked him back. He took another swing, but I was already quick to ready my sword.
The sharpened metal slid easily through his skin; my other end of the sword surfacing on his back. I twisted the sword, and quickly took it out. I shouted in power.
The man fell to the ground, yelling in agony. It was the end for him, but the battle went on.
Time skip...
Y/N's POV
I stood in the kitchen washing the dishes. My mind went on and on about thoughts of the prince.
But I, for some odd reason, also had a uneasy feeling over me and I couldn't explain where it was coming from.
It was almost as if I felt like something bad was going to happen, but I knew not when or where.
I placed the clean dishes on the rack, and placed the towel on the counter. I went to take a seat at the table.
My mother came walking in, and I sat up straight.
"Young lady, since you are so comfortable in that chair, I must assume you are done with your chores." She said.
"Yes, I am mother." I nodded.
"Good. I'll allow you out the house for a few hours. You may go towards the lake, or anywhere else on our grounds but no further, understand?" She explained. "I'll go and take my beauty nap."
"Alright mother." I smiled. "Thank you." I stood up excitedly to leave. I quickly walked out the house, and went to the horse stalls. I got Henry, and we rode to the lake.
Time skip...
I sat near the lake, as Henry lapped up the cold water. I held a couple carrots in my hand, as I threw small stones to skip them along the water.
I was enjoying my time out. I couldn't help but to think of the time I spent here by the lake with Robert a few days ago.
I continued to skip rocks. Henry tapped his front hoof on the soil.
"Have you ever been in love Henry?" I asked him. Henry looked at me, and I smiled.
"Well, I'm in love." I skipped another rock. "If you or anyone else haven't noticed..."
Henry neighed.
"Sometimes I really do feel like you can understand me." I patted his head. "Is that weird?"
Henry moved his head to the side, and it looked as though he shook his head no.
"Well, that's why you're my favorite." I fed him a carrot.
I suddenly heard the sound of a horse coming in our direction. I looked in the distance and saw a young man with royal attire on, going towards my house.
"Hey!" I shouted, and the man stopped. He looked around, and the horse grew impatient.
The man looked in my direction. He didn't look familiar.
"Who are you!? This is private property!" I said, and the man's horse galloped slowly towards me.
"I was sent by King Downey. I'm sorry for trespassing, I didn't know where the lines began." He explained.
I stopped.
"The king sent you?"
"Yes young lady. He wishes to see a woman by the name of Y/F/N. Have you seen her?" He asked.
"That's me. I'm Y/N." I said.
"Oh, splendid." He smiled. "Now, please come with me, the king wishes to see you."
"What for? Last I saw him, he didn't look so happy with me."
"The king is past that. There are more concerning topics then what happened. This has something to do with the prince." The man said.
"What happened?"
"He was sent off for the battle."
"Battle!?" I said, shocked and confused.
"Yes. I'm figuring no one has informed you."
"Well of course not!" I said.
"The prince left this morning for the Battle of Hughes. The king wishes to speak to you regarding it. And also, other things."
"Is-- is the prince dea--" I stuttered out. I felt my eyes become watery.
"I'm not sure, I haven't been told anything else but what I told you. Please, don't assume the worst my lady."
I rubbed my forehead, and shut my eyes.
"I'll go with you." I mounted Henry. "What is your name?"
"Jacob." He said.
"Thank you Jacob for informing me." I said. "Let's go." I tapped Henry's butt so he could run.
My mother was resting, so I knew I'll have time to go to the kingdom and come back before she awakes.
We rode off, and I couldn't wait to reach the kingdom. All I could wish for now is that Robert is safe.
