C. Chaplin Imagine
_______________I ran up the California hills in a fit of laughter with Charlie running after me. My dress blew in the wind, and I kept a smile on my face.
"I told you I'd win!" I laughed, looking back at him, he was out of breath. "I thought you had fight in you." I said, smirking.
"I gave you a head start!" I walked towards me. His white button up was a little dirty from the set and the top two buttons were undone. His dress pants were being held up by black suspenders.
"Oh please woman." He said, picking me up bridal style and taking me near the Hollywood sign.
"Charlie, put me down!" I laughed, as I tried to get out his grip. We got closer to the sign and he put me down, my feet now back onto the grass hills.
He headed over to the letter O in the sign, and began to climb up it. He reached the platform, and looked down at me.
"Wow, you should join me up here. It's beautiful." He looked around.
"It's just as beautiful where I stand Charlie." I was a little scared to get up there.
"Come on, live a little." He said, crouching down and offering his hand. "I'll help you."
It took me a moment to make up my mind, but I finally decided to join him. I held my dress up and began to climb the posts. I grabbed Charlie's hands and he helped me up like he said he would.
I look out into the distance and everything looked so beautiful and peaceful. It looked as though no one had a care in the world and we all just existed in a happy place.
"Wow..." I said, still looking forward. The wind blew my hair lightly.
"Just as beautiful as you." He sat down and I joined him. My face was a shade of deep pink. He looked over at me and smiled.
"Don't blush too hard, you'll look like you got sunburned." He laughed and I playfully hit his shoulder.
"Shut up." I giggled.
There was a little silence, and Charlie began to play with his hands.
"What did... your parents say about me when you took me to meet them on Tuesday?" He asked, looking at his hands.
"Well... my mother adored you, she said you seem to be a nice young man for me." I said.
"What about your father? What'd he say?" He looked up at me waiting for my answer.
"He said... you're very intelligent but..." I began.
"But what?"
"He--He doesn't approve of your work. He doesn't see the 'professionalism' in it. That's what he told me."
"Professionalism? What, he thinks what I do isn't an actual job?"
"Well... yes." I sighed. "He doesn't approve of it, he says he doesn't understand why you didn't want to work for an industry or something. Blue collar work."
"This is all I ever want to do, everything else is just simply a bore." He said.
"I understand, but he doesn't. I tried to tell him but he wouldn't budge."
"I might not be the top of the film world right now like I'd like to be, but one day I'm going to be the best in it. I'll make my name and myself famous around the world. Everyone will know me and I'll be making lots of money for myself, and you!"
"For doing something that I love to do... and proving people wrong. I've received rejection for too long." He explained.
"You'll get that and more darling. After that I'm sure my father will approve, but we can't worry about that. He does in fact like you so that is all that matters right now. We can only focus on ourselves right now..." I said, and he nodded.
"I agree." He said, and I smiled. He leaned in for a kiss and I accepted. I kissed him back, and he held me close.
"Ourselves, and actually one more person." I looked at him and he was confused.
"Who? What are you talking about?" He asked.
"Charlie..." My eyes began to water. "I'm pregnant."
He just looked at me with wide eyes, and said nothing. I looked away.
"I'm sorry, I--" I began to say until I was cut off.
"No, no y/n. Don't be sorry, this is great!" He placed his hand on the side of my face and I faced him again. He gave me a smile.
"It is?" I said. "I thought because you're always filming and--"
"No, this is amazing! I'm happy for us! We'll have another little Chaplin!" He said excitedly.
"Yes we will." I smiled, and kissed him. He put his hand on my stomach, and looked me in the eyes.
"I'll work hard for us. Believe me, I will." Charlie assured.
"I believe you." I rested my head in his shoulder and closed my eyes.
