"What's it called again- this shop? Tiffany's?"  Elle enquired in a clueless tone that made her new fiance wonder if she was for real. "Aye, I can't believe you've never heard about Tiffany's. It's mentioned in almost every romcom!" he replied, letting her link an arm around his as they crossed the road and made their way to the clinic. "Well, I did hear Kate Hudson mention it in one of her movies once. I just didn't think it really existed! I've never passed by one before anyway." she explained, absent-mindedly admiring the shiny, new rock that graced her ring finger, eliciting another raise of his eyebrows with her explanation. "That is so unbelievable. They're everywhere, for chrissakes! Every woman's passed by a Tiffany's atleast once in er lifetime an' every husband/lover's been tormented into walkin in an' buyin a Tiffany's box just to satisfy er yearnin!  Anyway, ere ya go, Mrs. Vitino-Miller." he retorted, finding her explanation hard to believe, gawking at her for a while like she was from outer space before flashing her a toothy grin at the thought of both their last names intertwined as he held the door open for her in that gentlemanly manner.
"Nina?!" it was her turn to gawk as she squealed on seeing her long lost friend waiting patiently in the waiting room. After apologizing profusely, he'd finally been able to get her to return for his melancholy Elle's sake, as a surprise gift that'd cost him less than the ring. "Can ya believe this? I'm engaged!" Elle continued to squeal, joyously pulling her into a tight hug. The hug left the red-haired woman red-faced too now! "No, I can't believe that ya are engaged....especially to him, anyway!" Nina started by insulting the doctor as soon as she'd struggled outta the hug and caught her breath. "Oi! I've changed." he defended, leaning against the desk as he watched their reunion with a pleased smile. "Good. Well, I guess congratulations are in order, doctor." Nina believed him only on seeing her newly engaged friend nod with approval, agreeing with her newly reformed fiance.
But, she still had her doubts about him. And she made it very clear to him when she pulled him in for a congratulatory hug and ended up threatening him- "An' just so ya know, mate....I'm gonna cut off your balls if ya do anything to hurt her. " He half-expected to feel the pointy end of a dagger pushed up against his abdomen when she hugged him, but thankfully, this wasn't the case!  "O--k....I'm gonna let ya girls catch up, yeah?" he stuttered, gulping on hearing her threat and feeling uneasy on feeling the hissy woman's hot breath against his ear. Finally squirming out of her bloodcurdling embrace, he decided to let his receptionist take a day off to spend with her protective friend. "Long lost girl pals oughta do some shoppin. Go wild with those credit cards, eh? Well, not too wild. Just send in the next patient before ya leave, love. I'll hold the fort till ya get back, yeah? " he offered, nervously chuckling as he handed her his credit card (What was his was soon going to be hers anyway, so might as well get a head start, eh?). She blew him a kiss, promising not to max out his card as she hurried out the clinic and tugged her equally enthusiastic friend along. He heaved a sigh of relief and straightened his clothing on seeing that wisp of red hair disappear out the glass door.
It was hours before the ladies returned after shopping and some lunch to replace that energy they'd lost hopping from one shop to the next, clutching and swinging their shopping bags about as they pushed the door to the waiting room open. "I'd better go in an' see if the doctor's had his lunch yet. Let's hide the bags behind my desk, lest he finds out bout our shoppin spree, eh?" Elle excused herself, ordering her friend to hide the expensive looking items out of the credit card holder's sight, before pushing the door open to greet him. "Oh...! I see you've already eaten..." she muttered in disgust , no other words coming out of her mouth on seeing him lying beneath and passionately smooching the other woman!
Nothing could've prepared her for this shock and she knew there and then, there was no future with this man, especially if he'd returned to his former self , especially after all those promises he'd made to her- his supposedly one and only. She was reminded of all those people who'd warned her against dating or having anything to do with the womanizing doctor and now her mind was occupied by guilt, anger and the feeling of betrayal - probably the main reasons why she didn't even bother to listen to his apology as he pushed the blonde off him, buttoned his shirt up hurriedly, and hurried after her as she tearfully made her way back into the empty waiting room and into her clueless friend's arms.
