I sighed discontentedly as I continued to groom the pegasi.

The others thought I had gotten off easily, but Mr. D knew how being around other pegasi would affect me.

We actually weren't in a lot of trouble, but then Mr. D saw the alcohol, and we were screwed.

And that's why I'm dealing with mental pain for two more weeks.

Whee.

On the "bright" side, there was the fall dance coming up, and Travis had invited me to go with him.

Only to make her jealous of course.

"Gods Kit Kat you move soooo slow."

Another punishment. Having Travis Stoll as my partner.

It's awful to be punished by the god of madness and insanity.

"I'm thinking, Travis. Something you wouldn't know about."

He put a hand to his heart, and grunted. "That one hurt Kit Kat. Deep down on the inside."

"With that thick skull of yours, it's a miracle anything hits you 'deep down inside'"

Travis frowns, a real one this time. "Is something wrong Katie?"

I freeze, surprised by the somber tone of his voice.

He called me Katie.

"I'm fine Travis." I lie, hoping he'll leave me alone.

"No, you're not." He grabs my chin strong enough to hold it in place but light enough that it doesn't hurt. "What's wrong?"

I glare at him. "I said nothing's wrong. Can't you leave me alone?"

He pulls me into a hug, and I relax into him like a warm blanket. "Travis, honestly fine. Nothing's wrong."

He drops it, and I'm almost disappointed he didn't see through my lie.

Almost.

"Finally done!" Travis exclaims, throwing his arm across my shoulder as we head to the pavilion. We finally finished out two weeks of chores, and working with Travis wasn't as awful as I thought it'd be.

"I'll see you at dagger lessons, right?" He asks me, his eyes pleading. I nod, and he heads off to join his friends.

Unfortunately, Miranda decided I needed to take pegasi lessons again.
Apparently she was "sick of my moping and I needed to stop lingering in the past"

Easy for her to say.

"Oh good, Katie you're here." Lacy says, beginning the lesson. Seeing her here reminds me of how Selena used to teach us, and how Lacy is doing just as well.

"And umm Katie which uhh Pegasus do you want?"

I stare at all of them, relying on my instincts.

I finally decide on a grey Pegasus with darker highlights. "Which one is that?"

"That's Ghost. She lost some siblings in the war. No ones been able to ride her since."

I look at ghost, and recognize the pain in her eyes.

I see that look every day in the mirror.

"I'm going to talk to her."

"She bites." Lacy warned me.

I continue forwards.

"Aren't you gonna stop her?" Another student whispers.

"I trust Katie. She's been working with pegasi her entire life."

I approach Ghost slowly, and allow her to recognize my scent. She looks at me curiously, then seeming coming to a conclusion, nuzzles me. I can hear the gasps behind me but I ignore them. Ghost just needed someone to relate too.
