I cursed, pacing the tiny shed. I could only walk a few feet without running into a gardening tool somewhere.I should have know Miranda would never misplace my gloves. Why was I such an idiot?
Travis was sitting on the floor, staring at the wall.
"Travis, watch out," I warned.
I tried to do a running kick, which would have knocked back a grown adult, but someone had spelled the doors.
I nearly broke my leg.
"Shit! Dam you Miranda! Curse your soul to Tartarus!" I yelled, knowing she wouldn't care what I said and planned to keep the door closed anyways.
"Face it Katie, there's no way out." Travis said.
"You make it sound like we have five minutes to live."
He shrugged.
I stared warily at him, and slid down the wall across from Travis. "What's wrong with you?"
"Nothing."
"Fine."
"Fine."
OoOoOoOoOoOoOo
After waiting an hour, I finally cracked.
Patience was never my strong suit.
"Twenty questions?" I blurted out.
"Huh?"
I mentally cursed myself. I sounded like a blushing girl. Like the old me.
"Do you want to play twenty questions? Since we're stuck here?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you classic?"
I blushed, immediately hating it. "My turn."
"Hey!"
"What do you want to be when you're older?"
"I don't know."
"Come on, you have to give a real answer."
"That is a real answer!" He protested halfheartedly.
I rolled my eyes. "Fine. Your turn."
"Favorite animal?"
"A fox. Cause they're quick and clever."
"Like me?" He asked suggestively.
"You wish. And that counts as a question, so I get to ask two in a row."
"No fair!"
"Favorite animal and season."
"Umm a falcon and the spring. Cause I get to see you hard at work more often."
I glare at him.
He only grins. "Why did you want to be a protector?"
I hesitate, then answer softly. "I like helping people. And being a protector is doing that, just on a larger scale."
He looked at me, right into my eyes. "But there haven't been protectors in years. None have ever lived past twenty-five. Why?"
I waved my hand as if I was waving away all the worries. "I've been training. And prophecies are very specific. I don't mind not getting all the glory. As long as I'm helping someone."
He stared at me, almost as if he was angry. "There are better ways to help people."
I averted my eyes. "My turn. What's your favorite flavor of Ice cream?"

Travis
I drowsily opened my eyes, confused by the sudden weight on my shoulder. I turned my head to look at a sleeping Katie.
She looked so peaceful as she slept, as if all that pain had gone away. She didn't look like a girl who knew 25 different ways to kill me right now, she looked like a girl who loved plants and beating me at everything.
I wanted to kiss her then. It would be too easy. Just lower my head. But I couldn't. I couldn't betray her trust.
She woke up then, and I grinned at she yawned like a kitten.
"Morning sunshine."
She blinked quickly. "Have we really been in here a whole day?"
I nodded. "Think Miranda and Connor are still out there?"
She sighed. "I wish I could see."
I rose to my feet, offering my hand to her. She stared at it warily, but eventually took it and let go the second she was standing, causing my to sigh internally.
I placed my hand on the lock of the shed, and focused on the mechanisms inside the lock, smiling when I heard it click.
She stared at me. I thought she was going to say something like 'Oh thanks so much', but instead she said "Why didn't you do that earlier?"
"I forgot," I said, shrugging.
She looked like she was about to yell at me, but I put my finger on her lips. "They're probably still sleeping. Don't wake them up."
"Just open the dam door." She hissed.
Unfortunately, they were lying against the shed doors, so we didn't really get a good look, but it was pretty hilarious when they both fell backwards.
I grabbed Katie's hand and ran before they woke up.
She laughed behind me, following.
I'm sure it must have been pretty annoying for the other campers, with yelling and loud laughter at 5 am.
But it was worth it for me.
Omgs guys I'm so sorry u haven't update in a while I feel so bad. Hopefully Ill do more updates.
Unfortunately, this story is almost over. I'm probably not going to write a sequel, but I have an idea for one. Ok, so maybe I'll write a sequel. But, it will be a while before I write it, I'm going to finish my other stories first
