CHAPTER ONE _____________________
"NII-SAN, DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO train today?" A young Sasuke asked in disappointment, frowning slightly.
"Don't frown, little brother. You'll get marks." Itachi smiled in amusement, continuing to walk down the village path quietly.
"But you always have something to do." The youngest whined.
"Because-"
"What the hell are you looking at?"
"Um..."
Sasuke turned his head to look at the scene unfolding in front of him. A villager, yelling at a girl with red hair with whiskers on her cheeks, her blue eyes sparkling with life.
"What? Is it this mask?" The villager spat, grabbing an ANBU mask from his collection and waving it in front of her face.
"Yes, actually-" She began to take out money from her pocket.
"Don't bother. Have it. Nobody would want it now that a monster had an interest in it anyways." The man growled, forcefully throwing the mask at the girl, which hit her on the shoulder.
"T-Thank you!" She stuttered politely, but obviously hurt. She shoved past the people who had formed a circle around the shop to call her names, making her way towards a certain blonde boy, who looked exactly like her, with the same whiskers and lively blue eyes.
"Nee-san! You got it!" He grinned happily, jumping up from his spot to embrace his sibling.
She nodded furiously with a matching grin, ignoring the aching pain on her shoulder."Of course! You wanted it really bad, right? And we still have money to buy some food for today!"
Sasuke continued to watch with a confused expression, tugging on his brother's arm to catch his attention.
"Nii-san? Why'd that guy do that to her? She's so nice to them. She even got that mask for her brother."
Itachi trailed his eyes over to the two."They're the children that have the Nine Tails Jinjuriki inside of them. You've noticed their whiskers, yes?"
"Yeah.."
"The Nine Tails did horrible things to the people of our village, but that doesn't mean that they did it. The children are innocent, but people hate them because they shelter an evil being." He explained quietly.
"Stupid." Sasuke huffed.
"Aniki." Itachi warned.
"Sorry.."
"You could be friends with her if you wanted, but Father says that it's bad for our image." He continued with a sigh.
Sasuke mimicked the noise."Then I won't be her friend."
