CHAPTER SEVEN _____________________ AFTER THE CHUNIN EXAMS
Sasuke opened one eye, examining his surroundings. He seemed to be in the hospital, the quiet noise of the machines in the other rooms filling the air.
He also noticed that Nao was sitting in a chair close to his bed, her head resting on his lap.
Her breathing was barely heard while he sat up in bed, keeping his focus on the way her lashes fluttered every now and then while he let out a sigh.
It looked like she had just come out of her match. Her waist-length hair pulled up in a ponytail, a few strands making their way out of it, and the dirt on her cheeks from using too much chakra did her no justice. But she still looked like herself. Beautiful, if anything.
"Sas..uke?" She opened her eyes, the beautiful ocean-like color staring into cold onyx ones as she ran her thumb across his cheek.
The boy said nothing in return, simply following the way her eyes flickered every so often.
"Baka Sasuke."
He let out a shaky breath as he watched Nao's expression turn from serious to happy, her usual smile making her eyes light up and making the room just a bit brighter.
He watched silently as tears started to flow from her eyes while she jumped up to bring him into a warm embrace.
He always seemed to make her cry.
"Always throwing yourself into trouble. Making me worry. Baka Sasuke." She repeated.
"What about you?" The Uchiha finally spoke for the first time in a while."Always making me want to battle. Baka Nao." He mimicked, his expression non-changing.
"You don't have the right, ya know!" She continued to cry, but pulled back to look at him."Making me worry. You don't have the right."
"Stop worrying, blockhead."
And so the Uzumaki said,"The day I stop worrying is the day you stop being friends with me.
And we both know that's not gonna happen anytime soon."
