CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX
________________________
A FEW YEARS BEFORE

"Now it's time for Konohamaru's present. If you'd roll the tapes, please.."

Nao and Sasuke adverted their gazes to the large screen in front of them, a smile overtaking the red-head's features as her brother's face came into view.

"Hey, you guys! Happy wedding day!" The yellow knucklehead greeted, waving his hand slightly."It's about time. Do you know how many years I had to deal with you hiding your feelings for each other-"

"Shut up, dummy!" Sakura's voice came from the other side, making everyone in the field laugh.

"A-Anyways, I wish you the happiest of y-years." He finished, his eyes flickering to his own wife who stood to the side.

"My turn. Hey, you two!" Sakura greeted, giving the camera a close-eyed smile."I've been waiting for this, ever since that one day where Sasuke read Nao that speech! It was so beautiful, and you could just tell how much you guys loved each other. And your love is even stronger now. All my wishes to the best couple in the village! Oh- and I want some nephews."

Nao giggled in amusement.

"So, yeah! Have a happy life together!"

Next was the rest of the Rookie 9, including Sai, Gaara, Temari, and Kankuro, which surprised the couple greatly.

"Hello, Nao! Hello, Sasuke!" Kiba greeted them, taking over the screen with a huge grin plastered on his face.

"Baka, you're taking over the screen!" Ino groaned, burying her face into Sai's shoulder in disappointment.

"Sorry!"

"Happy Wedding Day!" They all shouted in unison, earning 'aws' from the people in the field.

"We know you're going to have a great life together."

"And have very attractive children."

"Damn it, Kiba!"

"Stop saying such things!" Hinata sighed.

Gaara snorted."Can we do that again, please?"

"How troublesome."

"Shut up!"

"Just say what you want to say." Konohamaru directed from behind the camera.

The girls of the group pushed the boys aside."As Nao's best friends, we wish you the happiest of years with your husband! You two are perfect for each other!"

"Hey, no fair!" Kankuro shouted.

"And from the guys, enjoy the amazing woman by your side, Sasuke! There's nobody better!"

"Bye!"

Everyone in the flower field howled with laughter, including the newly wed couple, who smiled at their friends who sat at their table.

"Okay, you guys are the last ones!"

"Totally not fair.." Kakashi muttered, looking up from his Make-Out Tactics book.

"We're the outro. Stop being so depressed about it." Iruka rolled his eyes."Best for last."

"Okay, fine."

"Hey, Nao! Hey, Sasuke!" Iruka greeted, waving ecstatically.

"Hey, you two."

"Who would've thought two of my best students would be getting married to each other, huh?" The brown-haired man said sadly, keeping a smile on his face.

"You're not getting depressed now, are you?"

"Of course not!"

Sasuke reached up to wipe a tear that had escaped Nao's eyes, encouraging her to keep watching.

"Well, anyways.." Kakashi cleared his throat."In many ways, Nao, you are like the daughter I never had. And I'm very grateful that I got the chance to experience having one. And now that you're getting married, it's like.."

"Are you crying?"

"No."

"...you're crying."

"Ignore him." The silver-haired man scoffed."It's like I'm giving my own daughter away. And Sasuke.. you are one of my students. You're like a son to me, too. Maybe not the one I had in mind, but my son nonetheless. I never would have imagined the two of you would be together, or marrying each other, but maybe a little part of me did know. Maybe that's why I paired the two of you up during missions, and maybe that's why I didn't bother you when the two of you were talking. Because you were falling in love, and I didn't want to stop that."

"So have a happy Wedding Day. We wish you the best in your life together."

As soon as the video had stopped, the red-head shot out of her seat and rushed over to her silver-haired sensie, pulling him into a tight hug as she sobbed into his chest.

"It didn't really mean that much to you, did it?" He asked in disbelief, wrapping his arms around her to comfort her.

"You might not get it, but I never had a father figure in my life until I met you. So for you to say that on my wedding day.. it.." She sniffled.

"It what?"

"It makes me so happy. Like you couldn't imagine. You see me as a daughter? Well, I see you as a father."

"Nao.."

"So, thank you."
