CHAPTER THREE ________________________
AFTER GETTING TO NOW THE RED-HAIRED GIRL, Sasuke was able to admitting that she wasn't what he thought she'd be. He forced his father to tell him stories about the beast that attacked the village seven years ago to the day. All of it not to be spoken of in public, of course. He made up his mind that she was no good, and that it would be best if he weren't friends with her. But she persisted, making sure that he always had someone to sit with during lunchtime, and someone to practice kunai throwing with. In reality, she was a kind girl with morals, who would do anything for her friends, or friend, in this situation.
"Bye, Sasuke-kun!" She waved, her usual bright smile plastered on her face as she adjusted her school bag.
"Bye!" He replied with a simple wave of his hand and a grand smile that made his way onto his face whenever he came into contact with her. He could never help it. Seeing somebody so happy made his mood change drastically.
'Ican't wait until I tell Nii-san. He'll be so excited..' He thought, making his way through the Uchiha compound at a fast pace. It was unusually quiet, but he didn't mind. It was nighttime, afterall.
He didn't notice the abandoned shops that were supposed to be open at this time, or the bodies laying around him. Their blood splattered against the concrete floor.
He didn't notice until he tripped on something hard.
The sound of fabric ripping filled the air, and Sasuke let out a small hiss of pain, clutching his shoulder immediately after he fell.
His eyes filled with tears at the sight. The bodies. The people. His family, scattered. Dead. Who could have done this? Were his parents alright? Was his brother okay?
"Sasuke."
"Nii-san!"
He looked up to be met with brilliant red eyes, which could only mean that it was the Sharingan. The seven year old analyzed his sibling. A katana was strapped to his side, and he held something in his arms. No, someone.
"Nao! What happened to her? Why do you have her, Nii-san?" Sasuke asked, panicked. He reaced out to grab his only friend from his brother's arms. "Who did this? Everybody's dead!"
"Foolish little brother." Itachi murmured, holding the girl tight in his arms so that she couldn't be removed from his grasp. "Can't you see? I did this."
The elder son was met with silence. A strong breeze whizzed past them, Sasuke's equally onyx eyes widening as the information was being understood.
"You killed our family? Mom and Dad?" His voice was hoarse from all the talking.
"Yes." He nodded, looking down at the red-head, who's cheeks were warm and dusted with a rosy color. "And your friend just happened to come back here to give you something of yours."
"You killed her?" Sasuke whispered, a single tear escaping his eye as he spoke.
"No. She's.." Itachi set her down on the ground, taking a step back. "She's just like you."
"What?"
"She's too weak to even bother killing. Like you." He repeated slowly, a tear also slyly making its way out of his eye.
But the younger Uchiha didn't notice. He fell to his knees to bring the Uzumaki kid close to his body, sobbing into the crook of her neck of her temporarily limp body.
"Embrace hatred and vengeance. Get stronger. And maybe then, you can come after me to kill me. To avenge our family." Itachi continued, clutching his katana. "And don't push her away, because she's the only person who will really get a weakling like you. She's the only person who will genuinely like you for you, and support your dream."
And with that, the crow left the raven in a clutter of leaves.
