CHAPTER FIVE _______________________
"WE'RE NOT PLAYING CATCH WITH AKAMARU!" Nao gasped, covering the dog's ears so he wouldn't hear their conversation.
"But it'd be so fun, dattebayo! Right, Kiba?" Her blond knucklehead of a brother nudged the brown-haired boy.
"That's true." Kiba nodded with a lopsided grin.
"Sakura, Hinata, back me up!" The red-head pleaded.
"Yeah! What if he gets hurt? It's so irresponsible." Sakura lied as she put a hand on her hip.
"I-I don't know..." Hinata mumbled.
Sasuke rolled his eyes at the trio. "He's a ninja dog."
"I don't want him getting hurt, ya know!" Nao bit her lip, uncovering the dog's ears with a sigh."But if that's what you guys wanna do, then I guess we can."
"Yes! Go long, Nao, Sasuke!" Kiba grinned, holding up the animal.
"Does she have to be paired up with Sasuke? They-"
"It's fine, Naruto! It's a game!" Nao bit her lip once again but gave everyone a rather large smile, her blue eyes lighting up like always.
Sasuke noticed that she'd bit her lip twice now, which she only does when she's nervous or confused, making him frown visibly.
Kiba threw Akamaru, the dog letting out a loud bark as he landed in Nao's arms.
She jumped up and down with a genuine grin and squeezed the dog into a light hug, squealing loudly,"I caught him! I caught him!"
The Uchiha's frown turned into a smile.
"What are you smiling at, teme?" Naruto called over to his teammate with a cocked brow.
"None of your business, dobe." The onyx-eyed boy replied smoothly, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"What'd ya say?" He fumed.
"Nao, can we talk?" Sasuke ignored the other boy, inclining his head towards the trees by the training ground.
"Hey! Don't ignore me-"
"-Shut up, Naruto!" Sakura scolded, hitting his head harshly.
"S-Sakura-chan!"
The two made their way to a secluded area, watching their friends play as they talked.
"What do you need?" Nao asked quietly, placing her hands in her lap.
"I don't really do this at all." Sasuke began, bringing one leg up to his chest."But I wanted to say sorry."
"What for?" She tilted her head to the side, blinking once or twice.
"For being a jerk to you."
"Baka." She said softly, ruffling his hair."You wouldn't be my Sasuke if you didn't act like a jerk to me from time to time."
My Sasuke. The words rang over and over again in his head.
"I guess." He muttered, looking down at the ground in embarrassment.
"I love you a lot! So I guess I can accept your apology." She continued.
I love you a lot. She does?
"Blockhead. Going around and saying that like it's nothing." Sasuke scoffed, his cheeks turning a light shade of pink as he continued to stare at the ground beneath them.
"Typical Sasuke! Calling me names after I accept your apology." She scoffed back, her smile never faltering.
"Go play with everyone else, Baka."
She leaned over to give him a swift kiss on the cheek, standing up in the process.
