Chapter 10 | Digget likes juice.

I crept down the hall on my tippy toes. Light shown from under Lucifer's study and voices could be heard from inside. I sighed at that racing to the bedroom trying to be as quiet as I could. As soon as I got to the safety of the dark bedroom I pulled off my clothing and dressed in a short silk night dress then got into the bed. The book Johnathan had given me was now pushed under the bed safely under the gown I had worn today. I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep with my mind so active but somehow my eyes grew heavy and I drifted off.

~

Something was poking me and it was really starting to piss me off. More poking against my lower back and at this point I was beyond hoping they'd stop and just was trying to keep from knocking teeth out.

"If you poke me one more time I will hurt you," I said very slowly so the enemy could understand what I was saying. The poking paused, and I nodded, silently appreciating myself for the excellent threat then another poke came. Another fucking poke. Right in the back.

"Ok!" I snarled pushing myself up with pure rage and threw myself at the bastard who dare ignore my threat. A small screech and I blinked at the tiny form under me. Two beady large eyes stared back at me. He was a young boy, a very pale bald young boy who had very large beady eyes. Creepy beady eyes that somehow made him look adorable.

"Hello?" Maybe he was lost. The boy didn't reply, just merely looked up at me with fear and curiosity. I slowly got off the child realizing I had no reason to hurt him and watched him carefully. He was strange and rose questions, such as why was he in my bedroom and why was he poking me with what seemed to be a long black feather.

"Are you lost?" I asked kindly, the kid was adorable and I wished to keep him. He shook his head and I watched him tuck the feather into the pocket of the black overalls he wore. I giggled, he was too cute for his own good.

"Digget was to wake up Cloud Adrianna Azel! Did Digget succeed?" he then asked in a small soft voice. It took a moment to process his words and not gush over his cute little voice. The moment he spoke in third person was the moment I decided I would like to keep him.

"Yes, Digget did," I replied brightly. The boy smiled, showing off a mouth full of missing teeth.

"Excellent! I bring a message from my Lady!" He replied swinging his arms back and forth. There was a knock on the door and we both turned. Digget grew silent and his arms grew still. He looked over at me waiting.

"Come in?" I called hesitantly, I didn't want another scene with someone coming into the bedroom and Lucas or Elliot losing their shit. I was aware of the fact there was a boy in the room and did not want to be called a pervert. Elliot was rash enough to come to that conclusion.

The door opened and Kitty stepped through, today she wore a dark outfit, a small dagger strapped to her side. I watched her curiously as she ignored me for the moment. She was facing the boy, with her arms sternly crossed over her chest. A scowl was plastered on her face.

"Where's your Master?" she demanded and the boy frowned – almost confused.

"Digget thinks you are mistaken, Digget is not a slave," the boy replied back and I couldn't help but smile. Kitty however, wasn't affected by his cuteness as I was.

"I'll ask again and you'd better have an answer. This can be considered an act of treason and threat, my lord would not hesitate to cut you down brat," Kitty hissed in a cruel tone that had me frozen in spot. I was shocked at the way she dared talk to a mere child. Disgusted even.

"Digget does not like you on bit. Digget came all this way and you're being really mean and hurt his feelings," the boy sniffled to her. Kitty took a step towards the boy, I watched as her hand flew to her dagger and I closed my eyes for a second to not lash out.

"Enough," I spoke as calmly as I could. I was not going to allow anyone to harm a fucking kid. Kit looked over at me surprised at my interjection and I walked over to kneel in front of the boy. He smiled, a toothless smile and I smiled back.

"Did you travel by yourself?" I asked kindly. He nodded and I stood.

"Lady Cloud?" Kit took a step forward but I stopped her with a heated glare.

"I don't want to talk to you right now, honestly I am ashamed that you'd dare harm a child," I replied balling my fists. Had someone acted the same way towards Daniel? I had given up looking for my brother, I knew he was more than likely dead and that tore at my heart every day. I wouldn't allow some other child be slaughtered too.

"Lady Cloud," Kit tried again but I turned away. She grew silent.

"Do you want to maybe have some breakfast? We can talk afterwards," I asked the boy causing him to brighten almost at an instant.

"Digget would like that very much," he nodded enthusiastically.

I clapped my hands together and looked over at Kit then growing cold once more.

"Go prepare a breakfast out in the garden, I'm sure Digget would more likely enjoy the sun then the heated glare of the kitchen staff," I ordered knowing my tone was more than unnecessary. In truth I saw more of Daniel in Digget then I cared to. Instantly I wanted to keep him safe and keep all the cold people away from him. I had to be careful with that, I was sure Digget wasn't as innocent as his mind seemed to be.

Kit turned and left, her face hardened and her back stiffened into a guarded act and I choose to let that be. I was annoyed at her thus she could be angry at me all she wanted for now. I instead looked over at Digget who played with a string of his shirt.

"Come Digget, let's go to the gardens. You can see all the wonderful roses that had been planted," holding out my hand with a gentle smile the boy gave me a toothless grin and held on. It was surprisingly warm and soft.

The halls were quiet and empty as we walked. Digget hummed lowly to himself an upbeat tune and I didn't try to strike a conversation as it was quite adorable. We exited into the garden where I saw an elegant table already set up with two chair. Beside me I could hear Digget gasp at the sight of the rows and rows of flowers. I myself just smiled at the comfort of it all.

"Can Digget have juice?" Digget asked skipping over to sit on one of the chairs. I held back a smile as I poured him some peach juice then poured myself some tea.

"Where do you come from Digget?" I asked softly as he drank his juice. He placed the cup down to look up at me with wide eyes.

"Digget lives in Debil," he replied with a giggle. Debil, that was the farthest layer of hell – the closest to the exits back into the earth I used to know. If Digget could get me to Debil I could get outside of hell – I could get home. My heart fluttered, as I thought of Daniel. I could find him.

"Digget should be going home soon," Digget said softly.

I looked over at the child as he finished his juice and placed the empty cup on the table. A slow smile stretched onto my face.

"Me too Digget, me too," I sighed closing my eyes and breathing in the soft sweet air.
