Chapter 34 | No time left, what will you do?
I was shoved back once again. Calum swung his sword – the blade stopping to rest against my neck as I swallowed deeply.
"Dead."
We had been training two weeks now, I could feel the muscle in my arms and legs, the sweat clinging to my body. With a sigh my eyes drifted down to my stomach. It had been getting harder to fight as every day the baby threatened to be born. No to mention, Calum has been going easy on me.
"We are almost out of time, and she can't even hold up against you let alone beat you," Irone sighed loudly.
The blade was taken away and Calum held his hand out towards me – I took it gratefully and he hauled me up. I wobbled slightly but easily steadied my footing.
"What do we do then?" I asked concerned.
"Focus on defending rather than attacking. Who knows, maybe you'll even beat the rotting blood that way," was her only reply as she walked briskly away.
A frown dipped onto my face. Beat Daniel by defence? That sounded fucking impossible.
"Well, we will cut it short for today, Prince Lucifer wanted you to meet you in the throne room," he informed me.
I nodded, not expecting him to be anywhere else. Ever since Segal's imprisonment, he had been dealing with more shit than I believed he could handle. He hadn't left the throne room in some time, and with my training it had been a few days since I had seen him.
I just hopped I didn't look too gross in my sweaty leggings and loose shirt. Not to mention the state of my poor hair. I sighed, trailing behind Calum as we walked in silence out of the garden and through the palace towards the throne room.
Before we entered, I noticed Samuel standing guard against the throne room doors. They shared a look, before Samuel pushed the heavy doors open. I muttered a thank you, before walking into the room.
Instantly I noticed Lucifer sitting in his chair, with his shirt fully unbuttoned, as he sat looking tired and bored. His revealed chest looked lovely enough to melt chocolate. I swallowed harshly, to keep from drooling.
"Cloud, nice to see you again," Elliot's voice cause my eyes to drift over to where he stood accompanied by Elizabeth whom sent me a bright smile.
"It is indeed, as you seemed to come at the perfect time," Karasek hummed.
I looked over, spotting Karasek in a long, white dress with her white hair gelled back, and Rapan beside her, dressed in some sort of gold armored gown. Her blonde hair was braided back into a long tail, with heavy heels on her feet. I fought the urge to bow at the two.
"It's nice to see you again as well, how's Digget?" I asked missing the little beady eyed child.
A hint of a ghost smile touched her face briefly, before it was gone.
"I sent him to Johnathan with a few potions to hyphen senses," she replied swiftly.
Karasek always amazed me with all her potions and her abilities. My gaze turned to Rapan, her gold eyes seemed locked upon Lucas – no emotion was present on her face as she did so. I don't know what worried me more, the fact that she looked like a complete goddess or the fact that she held so much power in her stance.
"Angel," my attention turned to Lucas as he held out his arms, "come here."
Smiling brightly, I skipped over to him and plopped myself onto his lap. He chuckled lowly, wrapping his arms protectively around my waist.
"I asked Karasek to come and give you a check-up. Seeing as we don't have doctors, only mad men," he hummed.
A shiver went down my spine.
Calum sighed, "Well, someone needs to be a doctor for when the baby is born."
"Alpha Calum. I am in fact learning with the assistance of Digget. Every doctor needs a nurse, no?" Karasek replied coolly.
My face flushed, would they be helping me give birth then? Dear god, not Digget – he was just a child! Karasek caught my face and merely rolled her eyes.
"Don't be foolish, while you are giving birth, he will be attending any wounded men from the battle," she informed me.
Lucas's grip tightened.
"So it'll be close then?" he asked, sounding tense.
Karasek nodded. It felt like my heart dropped into my stomach, I felt sick. I would give birth near the date of the battle. Silence hung over us. I should be excited, but now I was afraid. I did not want my child's first entrance into this world be a fucking blood soaked battle field.
"It's settled then. You will not fight this battle," Lucas growled.
My jaw dropped, I sprang off his lap to face him.
"Oh boy," Calum muttered behind me.
"Excuse me? Like fuck I won't. This is all because of me, as queen I must fight!" I snarled.
My glory burned under my skin, but I held it back. I didn't need it popping up in simple and petty arguments such as this one. Lucas rolled his eyes, leaning back in his chair. It aggravated me further.
"If you think you can keep me from this battle, you will need to lock me in the fucking dungeon," I snapped.
He smirked coldly, his gold eyes blazing.
"That can be arranged."
I was speechless. Then, I was beyond angry. My glory crackled around us, damaging the floor and splitting the throne chair in half. Lucifer however, didn't back down. His own power crackled black against my gold. A power struggle.
"Back down and follow orders," he growled.
"Fuck you," was my responds.
His power lashed out again, causing me to fall back, suddenly it was gone, and his hand was reaching out to steady me. He wrapped his arm around me, and buried my face into his chest. I froze.
"Please Cloud, stay out of it, it's too dangerous," he whispered.
There was no other way.
"I promise," I lied.
At the end of the day, I would be the one to rip Daniel's heart from his body. It was my promise to him, and to myself.
