Chapter 6 | Hot demon soup and angel promises

"What's Lucas doing now?" I asked Kit eating a bowl of yummy potato and yam soup. She watched me sitting across from me with her arms crossed over her chest in a bored manor.

"Trying to track down the masked man," she replied watching me closely as I slurped my soup trying to not to burn my tongue off. Her eyes watched me carefully as I spilt soup down my dress and I wiped it quickly before the heat set in. I made a mental note to thank Lucas later, she was very on guard, tracking my every movement like a pro.

"Do you know why Elliot was here?" I asked causing her eyes to dart back up to my face. She cleared her throat and quickly stared at the wall and I rose an eyebrow.

"Uh, dropping something off I believe, I don't know the details," she replied. I nodded, made sense. Lucas was very secretive with his business ever since that slimy slime Lila. No one could really blame him for being paranoid at this point in all honesty.

"Cloud are you down here?" I almost darted out of my seat at the sound of Grey's voice. She walked in and I judged her face. She didn't look upset so I took that as a good sign. I sighed with relief.

"He's getting better then?" I asked hopeful. Grey nodded, her lips blooming into a wide smile.

"He woke up for a few seconds today, it was messy but at least he opened his eyes," she replied. Tears of joy fell down my face and I let out a small sob. She hugged me tightly and I felt my arms coming around her to hug her back, my face burying into her shoulder nook.

"He will be alright Cloud, I promise," she whispered rubbing my back. Ilet myself believe her.ur���-
