Yes, yes finally an update. It's a short one but I'm still dying a little.

Longer one is on its way.

Chapter 24 | A Gift.

"I don't like this," Lucas grumbled from inside the limo.

My eyes instantly rolled as Elizabeth laughed – a sound I missed greatly. It had been far too long, but when I had gone to Lucas with the letter I was surprised that he requested her back to the manor. Apparently, Digget's master was a highly powerful council member who could control shadows and made strong potions. She went by the name of Karasek, and by choice lived in the Debil district near east Odio.

Lucas was worried as to why she was inviting me over.

"It will be fine, she won't do anything to hurt the child – you know that," Elizabeth comforted him.

My eyes drifted over to where Digget sat eating a cookie. It instantly brought a smile onto my face seeing how adorable he looked. Savannah had gotten him a little backpack (pink by his request) and filled it with all kinds of sweets. He had thanked her saying it would be easier to now carry more potions and items around.

At the moment he seemed to be unbothered by our conversation, even munching on a cookie and swinging his legs back and forth.

"Cloud – are you listening to me? This is serious," Lucas groaned loudly.

I blinked over at him.

"Calm down. It'll be fine, Elizabeth will be with me and I'm not a child," I snapped.

"No you're merely with my child! You always act irrational and put yourself in harm's way," he growled back.

I didn't respond, although he may be right I would not give him the satisfaction of agreeing. Stupid idiot. I merely turned my attention out the window and watched as the landscape of Enojado become more scarce and slowly turn into the Debil landscape. You could easily tell the difference as the market filled space between Enojado and Debil slowly cut off into deserted lands and ruined shops.

"Sir we're here," Samuel had taken the liberty of driving us of course. Lucas didn't go anywhere without the man. Mind you, I was normally the same with Kit nowadays.

Samuel pulled up to a quaint little shop which had been elegantly painted with long shadows up the side and a simple cute little white ghost as a sign hung above the door. Although the shop looked way out of place for Debil, I could tell we were indeed here.

"Thank you for driving Digget, goodbye Lucas," Digget smiled at him before exiting the limo.

We watched him go outside and stand near the door awaiting for Elizabeth and I to join him. I giggled as Lucas merely glared out the window.

"No kiss goodbye?" I teased.

He rolled his eyes and leaned forward to lick my bottom lip then give them a peck. I felt butterflies fill my stomach as I smiled and got out of the limo. God, I loved the man I'd spend the rest of my life with.

Elizabeth exited the limo then, smoothing out her short black dress and fixing her long black pony tail she walked towards the shop. Her heels clicking against the road. Digget followed, as did I as we entered the shop.

As the door opened, a little bell rang and I paused to look around the shop with wide eyes. It was absolutely beautiful, the walls had been painted white with curving black shadows and cherry coloured shelves decorated the walls crowded with herbs. The place smelled of sweet grass and sage, and in the middle of the small crowded shop was a beautiful leather chair and matching coffee table.

At a counter at the back of the room stood a tall woman with darker skin and short flawless pure white hair. She looked over at us with glowing light blue eyes and I froze. Despite how terrifying she looked, she also was stunning. It shocked me every time, demons were so immortally beautiful.

"Master!" Digget cried happily running over to jump towards the woman.

Shockingly she caught the little boy with barely any effort and smiled at him, I now noticed the long white dress she wore. It almost seemed to glow against her skin.

"Lady Karasek, it's lovely to see you again," Elizabeth greeted walking over to sit on the couch.

Nervously I followed to sit on the edge of the couch.

"And you must be the queen of hell," the woman laughed looking over at me.

"Um no, that's Grey," I muttered a little scared to correct her.

She tilted her head and put down Digget who raced off into a backroom. I hated him to leave, he was basically my only protection here and now he left the room. Great.

"The wife of the king of hell, is not the queen. Maybe perhaps by association to Saanti but not by hell itself. You are the queen of hell. Saanti and Lucifer both know this quite well. That is why they do go to such lengths to keep you protected. Would you like some tea?" She informed me in a cool tone.

"Yes, both of us would love tea – from the market please not your homemade brew," Elizabeth ordered in a matching cool tone.

Ah yes, now I remembered what took away from a demon's beauty. It was their damn iciness.

"Elizabeth you won't get nowhere offending me. But enjoy your garbage," the woman sighed pulling three cups out of a shadow from the fucking ground and placing them on the table. I stared with wonder as she then pulled out two different tea pots – both filled.

"Why did you want to meet Cloud? The council didn't want to get involved with her," Elizabeth questioned as the woman poured the tea. Karasek hummed and finished filling the cups before placing one in front of us each.

I hesitantly took a sip of the sweet and bitter concoction, and decided it wasn't as bad as I had first originally thought. Nothing like Saanti's blend but not terrible.

"Yes, that was the original conclusion. However, it would seem certain things have changed. With the death of the angel and Abaddon appearing as well as so many council members already having met her," Karasek paused; scanning me with her eyes, "However, that is not the only reason. Digget seems to have taken a liking to her and so, I would like to reward her with a gift."

My eyes perked up at this and beside me Elizabeth shifted in her seat.

"Why?" Elizabeth questioned.

"Excuse me, I'm right here. What type of gift are we discussing?" I cut in leaning forward.

It perked my interest greatly. Not every day a council member gave you a gift. Karasek smiled then, her lips twisting up to reach across her face in the most unfortunate way.

"I would like to gift you with the chance to see your brother again."
