Chapter 24: PART TWO: A Gift.

The air lost my lungs as my knees slowly crumpled beneath me. I slowly melted onto the couch and looked at her, my eyes wide and my heart pounding heavily against my ribcage.

"That's not possible," Elizabeth gasped shocked.

"It's not possible for us to find him however, I have no doubt with a little help you can locate your brother through your blood itself. But there is risk, you may not like what you find," she hummed taking a long sip of her own tea.

"Cloud, think about this before you decide anything," Elizabeth whispered.

I straightened my shoulder then sighed. I have thought about it ever since I came to hell. I needed to know the truth. Once and for all. No more wasting time or long, series of suspense. I needed to know what happened to Daniel, I needed to know if my brother was still alive.

"I want to do this."

Karasek like a goddess smiled then glowed. She waved her hand back – the elegant movement captured my gaze.

"Digget love, bring me the black bottle," she ordered kindly before looking at me, "before you do this know one thing. Time in hell moves differently than in other places, he may have already moved on with his life and grown a family, or maybe he's already an old man turned to ash. Be prepared for heartbreak, these stories never end well. It is why demons never love humans to begin with," she sighed.

This made me pause and I couldn't help the hope that bloomed tight in my chest. I hoped he had moved on, I hoped he grew up and had a beautiful family. I hoped my Daniel became something wonderful but I prayed he forgot about me. It's a worse life if he grew up mourning for his sister, suffering. I'd rather suffer in slower years in hell than have him go through that.

"Digget bring the mix," Digget huffed.

I looked up as Karasek placed a small, black vial into the palm of my hand and I looked at her. The swirling light blue really did remind me of a true goddess.

"Drink that when you're ready. Not now. Maybe tonight. Make sure you are in a safe place and not alone. Dreams are worse when you know you can't wake up until you see them through."

I thanked the woman, holding the vail close to my chest.

"Cloud it's time to go. Lucifer is outside waiting," Elizabeth said after a while.

"See you tomorrow Cloud!" In the solemn mood I could count on Digget.

"See you tomorrow Digget," I called as we walked outside.

And there he was. My beautiful husband leaning against the limo with a scowl set on his face beside Elliot. Elizabeth nodded at him, and he nodded back. No more secrets between us. I took a deep breathe.

"Lucifer, I have something to tell you," I said softly as he opened the door for me.

"I already know. I worry about you but my father fucking mourns like a toddler when you are gone. I don't like it but I know Karasek wouldn't kill you. I know the council wants to find the other missing blood just as badly as you want to find your brother. If you need to do this then do it. I won't let anything happen to you," he growled filled with so much passion, a grin split onto my cheeks and tears dripped down my face.

"Look at us being adults," I sobbed snot running down my lip and into my mouth.

"Cloud you look like a baby," Elliot snickered poking me in the cheek.

I stuck my tongue out at him.

"At least you will always be more of an adult than Elliot," Elizabeth snorted.

Elliot pouted.

This felt nice. Just like the days before, and I knew this was the moment I wanted to do this in. I held up the vial and studied silently.

"Do what you have to do baby then get your ass home to me," Lucas murmured taking the vial and opening it.

I nodded and stared at my husband's face. Whatever happened after this, we would not change. We came too far and we hurt too badly. I kissed my husband hard on the lips. A desperate kiss full of love and full of promises.

Then, wordless I grabbed the vial and downed it back.

And nothing.

I tightened my lips.

"Is something supposed to happen?"

Is something supposed to happen?

Silence.

An image of a pair of beautiful angel wings being torn from a back.

Then, screams filled the air.

"Aniel, what did you do?"
