Chapter 14 | The book of brail, Kitty Kitty

I walked over clutching the book tightly in my grip. Saanti didn't look up as I approached but I knew the king of hell was well aware of my presents. Neither one of us spoke a word as I pulled the chair out to sit across from him. He then tilted his head to look at me, his gold eyes glinting with interest. I shifted nervously.

"I assume you met Johnathan," he stated looking down at the board.

I nodded looking down at the board now noticing the little details. The board itself along with the pieces were of course glass, but each square was infused with what looked to be either melted rubies or emeralds. The pieces were also either white gold or a vibrant yellowing gold. In the corner engraved was the name Segal. I wondered who that was and why Saanti had his board.

"And what did my old friend have to say?" he asked sounding amused.

I looked at him, his eyes lingered on the engraving with his eyes twinkling and a grin on his face. I shivered not wanting to know what he was thinking of.

"He gave me a book," I mumbled.

I pulled the book from its hiding spot then placing it in front of him careful of the chess board. He picked it up and flipped through it with no emotion on his face, and I shifted nervously again. I watched as he dragged his finger over one of the pages then he looked up at me and rose an eyebrow.

"I'm surprised he gave this to you," he said then chuckled almost annoyed.

I remained silent.

"This book is a list of every Nephilim brought to hell and their current status. It was originally made by Lucifer the first as it works on its own," he said quietly.

My eyes widened and I stared at it. My palms became sweaty and my heart raced. I could use the book to find Daniel, and suddenly all thoughts of the masked man were gone. I reached for the book only to have Saanti pull it away quickly. Anger boiled through me.

"If you get this you will attempt to find your lost brother, and then you will leave. I cannot allow that to happen but I will allow you to find this masked rotting angel blood, understand?" he leaned forward resting his elbows on the table.

I didn't say anything, I was absolutely pissed. I couldn't keep the glare and rage off my face and suddenly Saanti wasn't the man I had thought he was. He leaned back twirling the book in his hands, my glory crackled inside me.

"Don't or the book will be destroyed. I am the king of hell and despite how much I adore my daughter-in-law you are the next queen of hell. You are powerful and my son needs you when it is his time to be king, I cannot have to leaving. Try to understand," he sighed keeping the book still in his hands.

I thought of nothing, knowing my thoughts weren't safe. Then I thought that he was right, for now. I had to keep focused on the masked man and after he was dealt with I would deal with Daniel, either way I would find my brother. Saanti smiled, brightening completely.
