Chapter 33 | Betrayal as sweet as pie | Part THREE

Instantly Lucas was up and out the door – I didn't move. Calum stayed, his eyes watching me wearily. My brain seemed to have stopped working – so did my body. I could feel it sway slightly causing Calum to catch my arm.

"You don't need to follow. You know that right? Prince can handle it, it doesn't make you a weak queen at all," he hummed lowly.

I don't think I cared if it did or not, I think I was more afraid how and why we found her. Where was she found? I wouldn't break down if I saw her, I would be angry but I also knew she had a part to play in all this. I just didn't know what.

"I'm ok, where is she?" I asked fully aware of the quiver in my voice.

"Downstairs – the east part of the dungeon."

I nodded my shoulders relaxing. Kit was in charge of the dungeon and I knew my friend wouldn't betray me. Not even a little bit. A knock on the front door – Calum's shoulders rolled back in tension.

The door swung open and Alpha Berthal stood beside a sloppy looking Segal. Calum didn't seem to relax but I did nodding at the council member.

"I heard you found Ariel?" He asked sounding panicked.

I took in his attire – his normally gelled hair was greasy and messy, his white shirt untucked and his pants seemed to have been stained with blood. However, in times of war I didn't question it.

"You address her so casually? How to do know the demon?" Calum questioned.

I placed my hand on his shoulder, he relaxed very slightly.

"What happened to you?" I asked instead.

Segal seemed to relax slightly at the change of question, running his hand through his hair to glare at me slightly.

"One of my succubus seemed to have other intentions for me. I exterminated them all," he lied almost too smoothly.

My glory heated slightly under my skin as I itched to know why he was lying. However, for someone like him to have been attacked no doubt his pride was bigger than his brain.

"That Arial girl, she was pretending to be my newest succubus – I want to be the one to take her life. It would be treason for Lucifer to do anything but hand her other," he stammered slightly.

I knew of this, council personal treason was to be settled by said council member; however problems that affected more than one was to be settled by whichever ranked higher and Lucas and I definitely outranked Segal.

"I have money," he blurt making me raise my eyebrow.

"Calum," he hummed when I called him; my eyes didn't leave Segal, "are we in debt at all?"

Calum chuckled slightly, muttering a no.

"But, you can come when we question her. We can find out her intentions together if you promise not to be a fucking jerk," I told him.

Last time I saw him, he couldn't bite his tongue from being an asshole, I was hoping he would this time or I'd kick him out of my home.

"Fine." He breathed.
