Chapter 28 | Until we meet again.
I stood anxiously in Saanti's kitchen awaiting their meeting to end. I looked over at Elizabeth who talked quietly with Samuel. No doubt planning how to get us the hell out of here if the meeting goes bad.
Savannah didn't seem to be worried – as she contently munched on a carrot muffin while Sora watched her intently. Kit on the other hand, was currently icing my hand up. From where I punched Segal straight in the jaw.
I sighed.
Although that jerk had it coming, apparently it was against the law to harm a council member. Lucky for me, the moment his bimbos lunged at me Kit had their hearts ripped out while Lucas had Segal pinned down again. It was clear Segal wasn't known for power, I assumed he was the council's personal bank. A little spoilt brat just like Lucas had said.
The sound of clicking heels had us all freezing in spot. Rapan sauntered into the room as if her feet hadn't even touched the floor – the only evidence was the clicking of those heels. Her face revealed nothing as her cold eyes stared at me.
"Cloud you are invited to hear the council's decision. The rest of your companions," she paused to look around the room with disgust, "will stay here. Follow me Cloud."
Without looking back she glided out of the room with me scrambling after her. With her fast pace I was glad to have worn flats and not heels. With an awkward silence filling around us I opened my mouth to make small talk.
"Don't bother. I don't care for small talk nor details about your life."
Ok then. My mouth slowly closed as we walked into the throne room in awkward silent. All eyes turned to watch me and no one spoke. I remembered their rule of not speaking unless all were seated and I patiently waited for Rapan to sit down.
Segal had no problem glaring at me and I smiled sweetly back. At least he couldn't say anything at the moment. Rapan sank into her seat before Saanti cleared his throat. I glanced over to him and he sent me a quick wink before the emotion was gone from his face. However, that wink was all I needed to calm my nerves.
"The council has decided that despite your own personal ties to this rotting angel blood; he is a larger threat to just ignore. However, we cannot deal with the vampire and the angel blood at the same time so they will be sent home tonight to give the council time to recuperate. In a few days we will return to plan," Saanti informed me.
"Wait!" I cried.
My heart dropped as my eyes teared up. That meant I'd never see Savannah again. But it was time for them to go home. I sniffled, knowing it was for the best. I could hear movement and warm arms wrapped around me.
"Hey! You're not allowed to leave your seat!" Segal snapped.
"You will see them again my love, leave it to fate. Surely they were meant to come here whether in your story or theirs, this isn't over," Lucas hummed gently into my ear.
I nodded knowing he was right, I just had to keep faith in fate. Surely I would see her again. I looked up at my husband grateful to have him in my life and my lips stretched into a wide, bright grin.
"I love you, can we make Savannah our child's god mother?" I chirped.
He looked at me slightly surprised then smiled charmingly.
"Of course my angel," he hummed kissing my forehead.
"Enough, keep your whore times to your own time. Gather the vampire and human so we can get this over with," Segal groaned.
