Chapter 33 | Betrayal as sweet as pie | Part TWO
My eyes grew wide at Calum's statement and it took me a few minutes to process it. I didn't know Alpha Virgeo at all – all I knew is the glasses he wore seemed too tight but not as tight as his pants had to be. Not to mention Kit was not keeping her sexuality a secret.
"You're not telling it right," Irone cut in with a sigh.
Lacy giggled, "Kit was the one who got Virgeo the Alpha position. They grew up together in the Debil slums. I think; Virgeo's been in love with her since forever."
Instead of responding, I meekly nodded. I kind of felt bad for Virgeo, I couldn't imagine what he was going through knowing the girl who had his heart gave hers to someone else. No wonder he was so inhumane. Maybe not inhumane; more like he lacked emotions.
"You can't talk, Berthal's in love with you," Irone replied swiftly.
"That's different! We're married," Lacy whined back.
I studied the petite woman with long red pig tails. Somehow I could see her with the bulky grey demon that looked like he was right out of a classic horror movie. It didn't surprise me – not even a little bit.
I couldn't help but laugh at them.
The alphas were truly stranger than any demons I have ever met. It was honestly, refreshing to be near them. I couldn't wipe the bright smile off my face – it felt like some sort of normal human hang out.
"Speaking of marriage, I'm training the queen in a few day," Calum said gesturing to me, "care for a spar? If I think you're good enough maybe I'll let you sit in."
He spoke to Irone calmly with a smirk. Instantly the mood changed from friendly to one darker in seconds however; I still noticed it was a sinisterly playful. My eyes watched carefully how their stances changed.
Calum's shoulders rolled back and his back tensed as Irone's chin rose – her claws stiffening outwards. Neither of them lost their smirks however, and within seconds Irone lunged towards Calum.
He grunted as they hit the side of the staircase, his body twisting to kick Irone in the gut – launching her straight up into the air. I gasped, Irone flipped backwards landing gracefully on the table with her tail swishing back and forth.
Blades were whipped at Calum with speed my own eyes couldn't track, Calum however didn't seem fazed, as he pulled a sword from his waist and seemed to deflect the blades. Honestly, it looked like something straight out of a comic.
This went on for only a few more minutes, I turned my attention on Lacy who now perched in a chair beside me watching the fight lazily.
"Do they do this a lot?" I asked her.
"We all do whenever we cross paths," she giggled.
"Why?"
Her sharp eyes glanced over at me. She smiled slightly, as if lost in thought then nodded towards the fighting duo. I followed her gaze to where Irone was swiping at Calum who seemed effortlessly dodging.
"Our titles mark us apart of the strongest group in Hell. We have the respect of Prince Lucifer. So we constantly push our boundaries and ourselves to become stronger."
"I see," was my only reply.
Then she giggled again, "Besides its boring fighting those we can easily beat. With each other there's a thrill in losing."
That all made sense. Plus with them being demons I could also understand their thirst for competition and blood. My heart stung for a moment with realization. I'd need that same thirst for blood to beat Daniel.
A sigh escaped my lips.
There was no room left in my heart for guilt or hope. Now, it was filled with sorrow and anger. But that's what I had been driven to. Normal would never be an option for me. But, that was something I had to live with. Even if that meant killing my own brother for the sake of my future.
My hand went to my lower stomach, the slightest throb made me freeze. My baby moved. I laughed out loud – the duo stopped to look over at me.
"Are you ok?" Calum asked concerned.
I nodded, tears clouding my vision as I was overflown with wonder and happiness. Irone said something about Lucas, I ignored it as my other hand pressed against my lower stomach. I wanted to feel it again – my little hope moving around inside me.
"Is it the baby?" Lacy asked softly.
In excitement I grabbed her hand and pressed it to my stomach and waited. In a few seconds it happened again. The smallest twitch from inside. Lacy squealed in delight.
"Cloud?" I looked up as Lucas stood in front of me breathing heavily.
I smiled brightly, chuckling slightly and stood. His arms wrapped around me, I could see Virgeo a few feet behind him, but I ignored everyone around us.
"Feel," I whispered placing his hands on my lower stomach.
His face scrunched up in confusion as silence fell over all of us. I think everyone was afraid to breathe. It took a few minutes before it happened again but sure enough, the slightest twitch.
Lucas cried out dropping to his knees.
"Sir?" Irone asked concerned.
Lucas looked up at me, tears dripped down his face as he smiled slightly.
"My god," he whispered chuckling.
I sniffled as he pressed butterfly kisses to my stomach. His hands still firmly but gently in place. Someone ordered everyone out of the room as we shared this moment. It was as if time stopped for us – the mark of the beginning of the future.
"I love you so much, so does your mommy. I promise I won't let anything happen to you or your mommy," he whispered fiercely to my belly.
I blushed, my fingers digging softly into his hair.
"Prince," Calum spoke loudly making us both look us.
I thought everyone left the room?
"What?" Lucas growled annoyed.
Calum took a deep breathe then locked eyes with me as he spoke, "Ariel was found."
And just like that our moment was over as time came rushing in.
