Chapter 30 | Rash Mistakes.
Abaddon dove from the sky; swinging his blade towards me with his glory crackling around him. I turned my waist and brought my foot up to connect with his bare chest. He let out a grunt stumbling back before diving back up into the air.
Sweat clung to my body, and I was panting with exhaustion. But I wasn't about to give up; not today at least. My eyes followed his every move as he circled above, my plan was to strike before he did.
I took a long breathe out, feeling my own glory traveling like fire below my skin. I let it seep through me – embracing me in my own determination. Then, they broke through the back of the holy, silver chain mill and unfolded. I tilted my head happy to see my white wings – with a few black feathers from years ago. I didn't take too long to stare at them – within seconds he was diving back down towards me and I shot up to meet him half way in the sky.
My body hit his own causing our chain pants to roar like thunder upon slamming into each other. Sparks flew with the friction and we pulled back. Abaddon nodded at me and dropped his blade. We watched it fall into the garden and seemingly get eaten by the beautiful white roses.
No words were passed, enough had been said. I moved first this time, bending my wings to glide towards him and within his rang I swung my fist. He blocked, so I swung again. We moved upon this dangerous dance as the world blurred around us.
I watched the way he moved, always either blocking or swinging after me. I brought my arm up to swing again watching as his arms moved to block only at the last second I drop kicked him using both my feet to push off him and fold my wings. He faltered, falling out of the sky and into the ground.
I frowned at the patch of flowers he crushed before waving my hand full of glory. It sprinkled down like rain, fueling the crushed roses. He realized a second too late. As he attempted to move back into the sky the roses grew with glory, becoming vines around his legs and thrones into his side.
"Your tactics always impress me. But what if you fight away from anything you can use?" he asked as I landed.
As my wings folded, the vines dissolved leaving fresh peaceful red roses for the crushed white ones. Every day for about a week now he's been training me. And every time I've managed to take him down by using my glory to fuel life into objects around me. Despite the wins I know he was going incredibly easy on me.
"I'm impressed you didn't go and pass out."
The voice startled me that I turned around with a squeak. A man, with amber eyes and blonde hair stood with his arms crossed and eye brow raised. I noticed the strange outfit he wore – a leather like jumper with heavy duty black boots. Immediately, my guard was up.
"Who are you?" I demanded.
"Easy girly, I was summoned here by the prince. You must be the new queen," he hummed.
It dawned on me that he must be one of the four guards of the Triste forests. It shocked me that my nickname was even heard of in the forests. I let my guard do down as I smiled at him. I did need these people on my side.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm Cloud Azul," I hummed.
"Was Azul your Ma?"
I blinked. Beside me Abaddon stiffened.
"Your last name is the same name of an angel. Considering you're half angel it's not an investigation to figure that out," was all he said.
I was speechless. Why did I never even consider that?
