Chapter 11 | Start of the strangest friendship.
Digget had left soon after out little garden gathering and I found myself outside Lucas's office standing there nervously. I didn't understand my nervousness, he was my husband. However, I felt lately we had become strangers. I hadn't grown the courage to knock when the door swung open causing me to stumble back off guard.
"What are you doing?" I gasped clasping a hand over my beating heart.
He stood with a rose eyebrow and an amused smirk on his face. I could feel my own face burning up the longer I stared at him in all his delicious sins. His dark hair was messy as if he had pushed a hand through it recently, his clothing however (a simple pair of black jeans and a white button up shirt with his favourite boots) was in a crisp, neat order. I could feel places inside me stirring to grab both sides of his face and kiss him deeply. I held back however.
"My office angel, I could ask what you're doing standing there looking like a lost puppy," he retorted leaning against the door frame.
I scoffed surprised he'd ever seen such an innocent vision.
"Where you going to knock eventually?" He snickered playfully.
It was in this moment I did have a dramatic sense wash over me. I could feel every fiber of my body ach to wipe that stupid grin off his face by any means necessary. Thus I could feel my tongue curling to hurl threats, my hands itched into hard fists and my brain shifted gears away from my previous task.
"Depends, where you eventually going to stop snoring when we slept?" I retorted back silently congratulating myself on a job well done.
His eyes widened in outrage then narrowed as he took a step towards me and I knew my comment was too far. A grin stretched onto his face as I took a step back and his feet followed. A game of cat and mouse.
"I do not snore, ever. Take that back before you feel the rage of your demon king!" he roared lunging at me.
And that's how we came to a compromising position with him on top of me on the floor in the middle of the hall with my face burning with a blush. His face was inches from mine, his gold eyes glowing with mischief.
"Ok you had your fun, off me now," I tried to say my words strong but my voice failed and my words came out a soft whisper.
"I don't think so my angel," he whispered back.
His tongue flicking out to lick the tip of my nose. I squealed trying to playfully shake him off but failed – happily. He laughed, the musical sound brightened his face and brought a smile onto my own. It sent butterflies to flutter in my stomach and my heart to go wild. Suddenly all I could think about is how much I loved this man, how much I wanted to have a family with him. That thought caused me to grow still.
"Cloud? What's wrong?" Of course he could sense the change in my mood.
I looked up at him, tears pricked in my eyes as I knew what I wanted. It scared me, to love a person with such raw emotions and such raw desire. I wanted to have Lucifer's children. I wanted the prince of hell to start a family with me.
"Cloud?" His eyes grew with worry, his fingers traced my check lightly and I shook my head with a gently smile. He moved his finger and didn't press the subject. He knew I would tell him only when I was ready. Footsteps echoed down the hall as the lights overhead flickered. Lucifer didn't move but his body did tense.
"My lord, something is breaking through the barrier around hell," Samuel's voice sounded and I peered over Lucifer's shoulder to see the demon with red locks and pure black eyes stop directly in front of his master. Instantly Lucifer was off me, a sword suddenly in his hand, and my arm in his other. I winced at the tight grip.
"Which gate?" Lucifer demanded, the lights now flickered red. An alarm shrieked through the air and Samuel looked at his with shame.
"Downstairs."
I was shoved into his office as both men took off down the hall. Voices sounded panicked and rushed and I worried deeply. A few seconds went by and Kit appeared in the room, a dagger in her hand.
"What's going on out there?" I asked worried it might be the masked man from earlier.
She looked at me with worried eyes, a look I've never seen on her face. I wondered if she was worried for the castle, for me, for Lucifer or for everything.
"Something from someplace else," she muttered looking around the room in a daze.
"Kit?" Calling her name made her jolt out of her daze then look at me – as if seeing me for the first time. Her eyes hardened then she nodded towards me, a forced smile on her face and she was gone in a puff of smoke.
"Kit? Damn it!" I snapped finding her words not at all helpful.
I needed to be helpful, what if it was Ariel back to finish the job of my father? I could feel my glory crackling under my skin awaiting to be unleashed. This time, I would succeed. I was a fighter and no one messed with my family.
My attention turned towards the door and I tilted my head. Glory ran through my veins like pieces of the sun and I rolled my wrist, the door slammed open. I needed to move fast to downstairs. I could feel wings below the skin on my back but I held them in, I didn't need to worry Lucifer for passing out – that would be very bad.
Lucky for me upstairs was deserted – I knew everyone was either escaping the danger or off to fight it. My feet were quick across the floor and even quicker down the stairs. I could feel something strange in the garden, something from some other place just as Kit had said.
"You fucking touch her and I will rip you to pieces!" A male voice snarled causing me to hesitate. Was her Ariel? My fists tightened into balls, glory now heated through my skin. And I took a step outside into chaos. A circle of guards trapped in a man with jet black hair and red eyes, fangs poked his bottom lip hard enough to draw blood as a guard had a woman held tightly. I took a step closer to the strange scene as Lucifer stood in front of the man but I was more interested in the woman. She had long fair blonde hair with strange light and dark blue eyes. But the strangest part was she was completely and utterly human.
"What the hell is a vampire doing here?" Lucifer demanded.
I gasped, a vampire? Like blood-drinking, burns in the sun light, pale soulless creatures of the night? My gasp was my own mistake as I met his dark red eyes and the man smirked. Lucifer didn't like that one bit and with a roar my demon husband lunged at the vampire who angrily lunged back. I did admit the scene annoyed me, Lucifer acted so irrational at times. My nerve in my eyebrow twitched as I walked forward, the circle parted for me as I walked over to the woman.
"Let her go," I snapped, annoyed they'd even think to hurt a woman. We both looked back at the two wrestling on the ground and I had enough of the dispute. Apparently so did the woman and she huffed out a breath of air and crossed her arms over her chest.
"Sora stop fucking around before your pregnant wife beats you to death with my fucking shoe!"
"Lucifer cut it out, stop acting like a child!"
The boys on the ground froze then separated with grumbles. The woman and I glanced over at each other then smiled. It was a warm start of the most strangest friendship.
