Chapter 25 ○ Suspicion

Grace's POV

"Where the hell have you been? Sleeping with another man?" I crossed my arms with anger. "No, James. I was out at the diner, eating french fries by myself and thinking about what is going to happen to my career. And I was at Edward's house, just to check up on him. He got shot for Christ's sake. He saved me and got shot in the process." He got up and got a glass of whiskey. 

He was coping by drinking, and it was bad. He filled the whiskey glass to the top, ignoring that it might spill as he stomped to put it on the counter. He took a big chug of the whiskey and walked over to me. "So, you are going to the bastard's house, and to do what, hmm? To check up on him? Sure." 

This was so absurd. He was making a big deal out of nothing. "James, we shouldn't be dating anymore." His expression changed from anger to confusion. "No, no, Grace I didn't mean it like that." I, however, turned angry right when he said that. "What did you mean then? If you don't like my friendships then you can leave." He got close to me and grabbed my wrist. 

"I don't want to lose you." I got his grip free by twisting my hand many times. "You are crazy, leave my apartment!" He grabbed me by my waist and pulled me closer to him. "But I love you, please don't leave me." He was close to my face and almost kissed me. He wasn't my boyfriend anymore, he changed. 

I pushed him away, but he grabbed my hair. "James, get away from me!" An evil grin grew on his face. "Come on baby, don't leave me. I'll make it up to you." I slapped him, and it didn't seem to affect him. His face grew a little red but his grin didn't fade. I started yelling for help, and I didn't know if anyone would come. 

He covered my mouth and his hand trailed up my back underneath my shirt. He toyed with my bra straps, only to met with a kick to the leg by me. He was limping slightly and was trying to walk over to me. Just as that happened, there was a bang on the door. "GCPD, please open the door!"
