Chapter 42 ○ Riddler

"I'm not going through this all for another time. I never wanted to see you again." Grace mumbled at the mirror. "See how that turned out?"  said Edward. Strangely, it didn't seem like Ed. He was neater with his whole appearance. His voice sounded a bit cockier than normal. Everything about him was eerier and he seemed more and more deceiving with every blink. She also noticed some distinct features that were different than she remembered. His skin had a few wrinkles on it from age. His eyes were droopy from exhaustion. 

"You aren't Ed. Who the hell are you?" Grace looked angrily at the man who looked an awful lot like Edward."Well, the real question is, who are YOU? You changed too, and I bet you know it. I'm most certainly sure that you didn't see your friend turned romantic interest in your mirror before, unless you did.  If that is the case, no further comments on my part." The man expelled a deep chuckle. "I'm going to repeat myself, who are you and why are you in my head?" 

"What are you, stupid? Wait, don't answer that. My dear, you already know who I am, or rather who I was.  You just mentioned my name! However, I'm different as you can probably tell. I'll give you a hint: I'm tall, handsome, and the smartest carbon based life form in Gotham, and probably the world. Oh- and I like riddles and crime!"  Grace let out a sigh and raised her eyebrow. "For the smartest man in the Gotham, you sure do talk a lot. And okay, I get it- you're Edward Nygma." 

"No, no, no. You aren't getting it! How could I ever fall for someone so dumb? Ugh- I'm The Riddler!  You haven't heard of me, but you will. Trust me, I'm basically from the future. Might I also add that I realized that I'm now just as attractive as ten years ago- or as you would consider it your current time."  She could see where he got his name from. Edward always loved riddles, question marks, and other nerdy things. 

"What a dumb name though, you couldn't have picked Question Mark Man or something? I mean really, and I wouldn't a hundred percent agree with your comment about yourself." Riddler quickly changed his expression from smug to insulted. "How dare you- a completely ignorant and stupid human being that could never compare to a true genius like myself- insult me? I was going to give you an insight on your life to make up for interrupting your cute little conversation with Mr. Wayne, but I changed my mind." 

"I mean, I wouldn't care either way about my future. As long as you aren't in it. I'm sure that I am a CEO of a company or something like that. You're probably a sad man who once was Edward just trying to play yourself off as some sort of villain." She smirked and chuckled with satisfaction at her jab. However, Riddler had gotten tricked and quickly replied. 

"Actually, it's nothing like that. You are a superhero who always gets in my way. You work with another superhero who is my arch nemesis, however that is not to be revealed. I like surprises. And yes, I am a villain. I'm one of the most powerful villains, and you haven't stopped me yet. No one will- oh god dammit. Ignore all of that. I-I was lying!" 

"Listen Mr. Smartest Man in Gotham, can't you just leave me alone? I don't want anything to do with you or, well, you. I'm sure you know what I mean. And you know what, I'll forget everything you said, as long as you leave me be. My tea is probably cold now."  

"Fine, but I'll leave you on one actual thing about you." Grace started to walk out of the bathroom and looked back towards the mirror. "It's not the most interesting thing, but you are just as good in bed now as you were in your time, maybe even better." He laughed evilly while Grace rolled her eyes and said something under her breath. "Just like something I could see him saying."

Ayyy what's up guys. I'm back into writing and I should be putting out chapters regularly again. Like I said, this was a continuation of the last chapter, so I kind of made up for it I guess. I will start writing the next chapter tonight and hopefully get it out in a few days. xoxo
