It was a pretty long way from Sadie's house, but she wanted to walk.

You see, walking really put Sadie into a state of calm. Whenever she walked for long periods of time, she would plug in her headphones and just think.

For this reason, Sadie never walked when she was sad despite her need for getting fresh air.

She didn't want to be left alone with her thoughts then.

Now, it was a completely different story. Sadie was interrogating herself on whether or not she should do this. It would probably be both beneficial and detrimental simultaneously.

Was Sadie really going to throw everything she's ever known away for this?

Yes.

Was it worth it?

Probably not.

Sadie didn't care, at least not a hundred percent. There was a constant battle going on in her brain as she started walking the few miles.

"I could turn around and forget I ever even thought about it, but then I'd just be a complete wimp."

On one hand, it would be highly refreshing. On the other, it could be highly stressful and contradictory.

Maybe she was making a mistake, but when did that ever stop Sadie?

If her life was ruled by her worry, she would never have been thrown into prison.

Sadie was overly carefree about everything. She let life just play out, but she also was controlled by the opinions and actions of others.

She hated that part of herself.

She didn't care until someone else cared. It was a rule Sadie unwillingly lived by and she was sick of it.

The personality trait didn't happen with everyone thankfully, but there were people who influenced it more than others.

Take Christine for example. Sadie really had no reason to hate Michael, but she liked Christine who did hate him.

In reality, Michael did absolutely nothing to Sadie except for shove her off when she was assaulting his best friend- which was highly reasonable. Except, Sadie had this mindset in place about him. She was somewhat infatuated with Christine. Then, Christine went along and planted a toxic view of Michael into Sadie's mind, permanently brainwashing her.

This is the main reason why Sadie was terrified as she got even the tiniest ounce of attraction towards someone. It was really that easy for her to get sucked into someone's words- even if they were lies.

People found out though. They did this, faked an attraction to Sadie, and took advantage of her.

Sadie was far too vulnerable. She wished she could change her mindset completely.

She was getting close to her destination. There was half a mile left, but it would go by in no time.

It was getting pretty chilly out, so Sadie grabbed her sweater from her backpack. She slipped it on and kept walking.

Eventually, Sadie saw the outline of the building.

She quickened her pace because she really wanted to just get this over with.

She walked through the doors of the building, instantly enveloped in the comforting feel of artificial warmth.

She walked around, looking for the main thing she needed. Once she acquired it after some bargaining, she grabbed the next thing she needed and started the trek back.

The journey home seemed to take a lot longer than the one there. It wasn't Sadie's fault, she usually went with her instinct for everything.

This time, there was just something constantly nagging her at the back of her head. It was an incredibly frustrating experience for Sadie.

At this point she was dragging her feet along the chipped pavement. She realized that she should've been driving, but it was far too late for that.

One mile left. She took a sip of water, realizing how truly unfit she was. Her muscles were cramping, but she was almost there. She wished there was someone she could ask for a ride, but the only person she could think of with a car was Michael. She really didn't think he would be willing, so she kept walking until she reached the house that was slowly falling apart.

It wasn't that her family was poor, they were just really lazy people who didn't care about appearance whatsoever. The sight of her house was always unnerving to Sadie, but she walked to her room.

Despite the still nagging voice trying to stop Sadie, she used the object.

She knew it wouldn't work instantly, so she waited.

A sharp, unbearable pain flooded through Sadie's body, begging for her to scream. She didn't give in, letting the pain wash over.

At last, it was gone.
