Sadly, the aquarium was about to close. Jeremy and Michael stayed there for hours, it truly felt like paradise, especially to Jeremy. This was the first time he was able to get outside of that cramped hospital room in weeks, and he was so, so grateful for it.
He just hoped that he could get out of that horrid place soon and for good.
The only time he'd want to go back is if the person he married was having a baby. Since he was dating Michael and hoped to be for a long time, he didn't see that happening. Blame science.
The two left the aquarium right before it closed, but not before Michael bought Jeremy a pretty small stuffed dolphin with the aquarium logo embedded on it. Jeremy didn't want Michael to 'waste' his money on it, but it wasn't that expensive, and Michael saw the way Jeremy admired the toy when he saw it. The smile on Jeremy's face was definitely worth it, no matter how much it cost.
Afterwards, the two talked about their favorite exhibits as Michael drove about a mile to a small Italian restaurant. It was a pretty casual place, nothing too fancy.
Michael wanted to make this evening special for Jeremy, considering he didn't know how long it could be before he did it again. So, Michael specifically chose the places he knew Jeremy would enjoy the most.
Michael and Jeremy decided to get two meals to share, not knowing what to pick. Eventually, they decided on spaghetti and chicken parmesan and patiently waited for their food.
"Hey, Jeremy? Michael spoke softly, grabbing the boy's attention. "Yeah?" Michael paused, looking up at Jeremy.
"You know, you are the most beautiful person I have ever met, on the inside and out."
Jeremy started blushing profusely, covering his face in mock shame.
After that, their food arrived.
The food was "Simply orgasmic," as told by Jeremy. Michael happily agreed as he tried to control himself and not shove all of the food in his mouth at once, but he couldn't help but to laugh at Jeremy's wording.
Although the two were plenty stuffed with the heaping amounts of food they were given on their plates, they decided to also split some tiramisu.
Not only were the portions of the dessert huge, it came with several scoops of vanilla gelato. The two knew that a hypothetical food coma would ensue, but that didn't stop them from eating the entire thing.
Michael happily payed for the bill, which surprisingly wasn't as enormous as he expected. It was definitely the best food he and Jeremy had in a long time, especially considering Jeremy had been stuck with hospital food for almost two months.
Alas, they eventually had to go back to the hospital that they both hated ever so dearly.
Jeremy understandably fell asleep again after a few minutes of the drive. Michael was pretty tired too, but he could most certainly wait until they got back to the hospital.
The drive back was quite serene, fairy lights were sprinkled delicately through the city twenty minutes over from their home. There were no clouds in the sky, and the way the stars intricately dotted the sky was breathtaking. Tonight was a truly wonderful experience, and Michael wouldn't trade it for anything.
The drive didn't take that long, there was much less traffic at night.
Michael pulled into the hospital parking lot, gently waking his boyfriend, who refused to budge.
Michael couldn't help but to chuckle at his boyfriend's sleepy shenanigans, but he couldn't help but admire how truly stunning Jeremy was. After some time, Michael decided to grab Jeremy bridal-style, locking his car and walking into the hospital holding the boy he loved.
Michael tenderly placed Jeremy onto the hospital bed before taking off his glasses and spooning him, which he was pretty used to by now.
The comfortable and familiar warmth of his boyfriend was enough to lull Michael to sleep.
This night was easily one of the best experiences of Michael's life.
A/N: Ha, and you thought there'd be angst this chapter ;)
