Michael and Jeremy really didn't know what to do.

They actually stood there for at least a minute, jaws dropped so far hat they ached and eyes dried out with how long they stood with their eyes wide, reflecting on their shock.

Jeremy was the first to snap out of it. He still didn't say anything though, he just took a few steps towards Sadie, stretching out his arm and swiftly pressing the red call button protruding from the remote on Sadie's bedside table.

The awkward silence that consumed the room was deafening. Usually, Jeremy and Michael made fun of the quote, "silence is deafening," but neither of them had experienced it.

Their brains wandered off, focusing on the dull ringing in their ears. The silence was consuming them, making them pretty uncomfortable and slightly overwhelmed. Thankfully though, after about five minutes, a nurse shot through the room, almost bumping into Michael.

The pace in which the nurse rushed in made Jeremy yelp a little bit, but Michael only laughed for a little bit this time.

The nurse, whose tangled hair was tied up and bright red lipstick smudged, gave Michael and Jeremy a questioning look, unaware of their surprise.

They really shouldn't have been as jumpy as they were, they did call the nurse after all, but a sudden event after complete silence was a bit much.

Anyways, Michael explained the situation quickly, and with that, he and Jeremy left the room.

Another nurse stopped the two to ask some questions, like if they would be able to return if help was needed in trying to regain Sadie's memory.

At the mention of this, Jeremy interjected. "Why would you want her to regain her memory? She'd just go back to being a terrible person. People don't change, so this is about a once in a lifetime opportunity to correct Sadie's ways."

Despite the quick rant, the nurse just ignored what Jeremy was saying.

The nurse pivoted and almost started walking away before she swiveled back around after remembering something.

"Oh, he's undergoing extensive surgery now, but is there any way you can come back when we call you to see if you can identify the other survivor? It's a long shot, but I guess it's worth a try."

Michael and Jeremy shared a hesitant glance, not breaking eye contact when Michael slowly nodded, followed by Jeremy.

"Alright, we'll let you know."

With that, Michael and Jeremy left the hospital, which they were too used to at this point.

How did they get caught up in this again?

A few days later, on the second-to-last day of break, Michael and Jeremy were eating french fries and drinking milkshakes at the first fast food place they saw.

Jeremy was craving french fries, and Michael knew better than to interject with Jeremy's cravings from previous experiences.

But that's a story for another time.

As they sat in their booths, combatting brain freeze as they were close to chugging their milkshakes, Michael's phone rang.

He was unsurprised when he picked up and moments later realized that it was the hospital.

"Yes?" The person on the end of the line blabbed on and on about something, causing Michael to heavily sigh.

"Yeah, yeah. We'll be there soon."

Michael slumped down and rested his head onto the cold table, muttering to Jeremy.

"We have to go to the hospital again to see if we know the guy in the explosion or whatever, but apparently he was transferred to the hospital a few towns over. Ready for a road-trip?"

Michael didn't really sleep well last night, but he was the only one of the two who could drive, so he had to push through. He ordered a coffee to go and got in the car. He made sure Jeremy buckled his seatbelt before he drove out of the parking lot and onto the main road.

He and Jeremy talked about random things on their drive until they arrived an hour later. They could've made it a lot sooner, but people were heading home from visiting town so the traffic was unbearable.

They explained to the receptionist what they were here for and followed a nurse into a room.

"I'll be right back," she said, walking out of the doorframe where she originally stood.

Only after she left did Michael and Jeremy turn to look at the patient surrounded by various machines.

Michael couldn't help but to face palm at the sight.

"You have got to be fucking kidding me."
