Sadie woke up far too early for her liking and her back was killing her.
There were only a few other cars in the parking lot, which was understandable as it was about five in the morning.
Alas, Sadie had to keep moving.
Are you sure you don't want to just go back home?
"Weren't you the one who didn't want to be locked up in the first place?"
Well, yeah but-
"Make up your mind, you awful floppy disk!"
Wow, good one. I'm really shaking in my boots here, whatever will I do?
"Shut up. I'm tired and I need caffeine. I sincerely apologize that my insults aren't up to your standards, I hope you understand." Sadie sneered as she spoke in her head, too exhausted to put up with any of the Squip's bullshit.
Alright, fine. Just drive, I'm going to control your directions, holler if you need me.
Sadie rubbed her temple, not willing to deal with this today. "Wow, you're really helpful. So worth the four hundred dollars."
The Squip appeared again, always wanting to have the last word.
Uh-uh. Four hundred and one.
"Smartass."
Sadie took a few turns, was stopped at a few lights for too long, and then was back on the highway.
Just Sadie's luck, there was a terrible accident on this highway and with that, major traffic build up ensued.
Sadie groaned and hit her head against the steering wheel repeatedly.
She masked her fear with anger, she didn't want herself to be scared with the police just right there investigating the scene.
She wished she had gotten an energy drink before leaving Walmart.
Sure, a sugar crash would probably occur later on, but it was probably a lot cheaper than coffee, especially in the long run.
After sitting and waiting for at least forty minutes, the traffic finally cleared and Sadie could drive for longer. How wonderful.
As soon as they got into Ohio, the Squip steered Sadie off of the highway and down the road of a town larger than the previous one Sadie stopped in.
Sadie pulled up to a gas station with a 7 Eleven, refilling her gas tank before getting a donut and a few cans of Red Bull.
When she went to the counter to check out, the cashier widened her eyes in fear. She started slightly trembling as she fumbled to scan Sadie's items.
I'm going to assume that she saw your mugshot in the news. It's probably all over the media, plus, it's in the newspaper right there.
Surely enough, where the Squip gestured was a newsstand with several copies of a newspaper plastered with Sadie's face on the front.
Sadie turned back to the cashier before weakly smiling and taking her change.
She tried to keep her cool, she really did. However, her heart was pounding a million miles a minute as she kept thinking, "I need to get out of here."
As soon as Sadie raced out of the store, she looked over to see the cashier dialing the phone on the counter.
GO!
"You don't have to tell me twice," Sadie spoke, hitting the gas pedal.
As much as she wanted to drive recklessly to get out of there quicker, the Squip slowed her down. It was probably for the best, but Sadie's heart rate hadn't decreased.
Sadie was back on the dreaded highway. Surely authorities were contacted and on their way in search of Sadie.
Because of her fear, Sadie didn't seem to notice the familiar surroundings that she just recently passed.
The Squip had to turn her around, it was the only thing it could think to do.
To be fair, the police would probably expect Sadie to continue moving west as she had been.
The Squip struggled with the decision. Nothing in it's database could tell him how much easier or more difficult it would be, but it was a chance that the computer had to take.
Hopefully Sadie just kept being unaware.
A/N: More of a filler chapter but whatever. Also, I wanted to publish this sooner and my eyes are burning as I'm writing this, but I had a pretty intense session of lip syncing to musicals at midnight, nothing new.
