tw: highly fatal yet not really detailed attack.

Luckily enough for Nick, the guy he knew was in town and he was supposed to meet him after his shift to give him the supplies he needed.

He did talk to Christine that night, but he was extremely distracted. His mind kept wandering off to the plan that would take place hopefully the next day, and Christine wasn't happy about this.

However, she shook it off, which was something she was almost never able to do.

When his shift ended, Nick ran to the grocery store. This wasn't where he was meeting the guy, but he earlier made a mental note to grab an energy drink before they met up. This was going to be a long night.

Nick took his change from the cashier, who had highly noticeable bags on her eyes from the long shift. Yeah, he knew how she felt.

He popped the tab off of his overly sweet drink, cringing as it slid down his throat.

Despite hating the taste, Nick finished the can off before walking into the alley, stack of money in hand.

Their meeting was pretty brief, he just got the stuff, concealed it inside the inner pockets of his puffy jacket, and left.

Now, he just had to remember how to assemble what he needed. He did once, but never used it because the Squip told him not to. He didn't know if he was glad the Squip stopped him or not, but that was a while ago.

Nobody could stop him this time.

Further along the process, Nick fell asleep. This means that he was now behind schedule. Of course.

He still had time, he wasn't going to do it until his shift at eleven, when almost nobody would see him. As much as he hated it, the night shift had its perks.

It took a few hours, but Nick arranged the key ingredients and eventually had everything settled and in his work backpack. So, he decided to go sightseeing in the area for the remainder of the day.

There wasn't much to do around there. He drove for two hours to the beach and walked around on the pier, which was lined with a thin layer of melting snow.

He got an ice cream cone and really thought his choice out while sitting on the sand, but it was probably his best option. Things would be really bad if the plan failed, so he hoped it wouldn't.

He ate the cone of the dessert, which was usually his favorite part, and then threw away the napkins covered in chocolate.

It was still pretty cold despite the shining sun, so the ice cream shouldn't have melted as fast as it did, but it's not like Nick could control that.

Only an hour had passed, but Nick had to go back in order to get ready for his work. He grabbed a burger from the nearest fast food drive-through and drove off, listening to the playlist of his favorite songs and singing along softly.

If life was always like this, a lot of things would change. Alas, reality was harsh.

Nick was back in his empty apartment, most of his money spent. None of that mattered anymore.

It was only eight, so Nick had a few hours to watch a movie on his thrift store television. He picked a horror movie to get his adrenaline pumping.

Nick usually hated horror movies, but he decided to live a little. He may have hid under a blanket on his sofa bed during a few parts, but nobody needs to know that.

His timer went off, so he grabbed his backpack and headed off to work for probably the last time.

As soon as he clocked in at his job, he started setting up. He went to different wings of the prison, avoiding the other guards, which happened to work.

None of the other employees usually paid attention to Nick, but he didn't mind.

Everything was set up, so he went to Christine's cell, as per usual. He acted like nothing was up, and he was pretty damn good at it.

The time Christine was most grateful for Nick was when he made sure her dad was ok in his cell, considering he wasn't allowed to go to the cafeteria yet.

Nick's train of thought was interrupted by Christine speaking. "Do you hear that faint ticking?"

Nick shook his head at an unconvincingly fast pace, but Christine bought it for some reason. She was really tired that night, and she honestly couldn't wait to sleep.

"Wait," Nick started, before pulling keys out of his pocket.

He unlocked Christine's cell door and went in the cell with her, shutting the heavy door after him.

He didn't know how long there was left.

He sat on the bed next to Christine and suddenly felt super appreciative towards his uncomfortable sofa bed at home. This was the thinnest mattress Nick's butt has ever had the experience to grace with it's presence. It was that bad.

However, the two were silent when they sat on the bed. One thing led to another and Nick was kissing Christine and she was kissing back and everything was perfect in that moment. Nick's stomach was churning in the presence of butterflies he has never felt before, it was truly wonderful.

In that few seconds, Nick instantly thought about going around the prison to deactivate the  handmade bombs he left around, but it was too late.

Suddenly, Nick felt absolutely nothing.

It was all over now.

A/N: Well this was a blast to write! ;)))
