Christine was really starting to enjoy Nick's presence.

She really liked Nick. Not romantically, that would never work out and Christine didn't know if she'd want it to. However, seeing Nick was without a doubt the best part of her day.

Most nights, he was the only guard in that area, so no one ever saw him conversing with her. If anyone did find out about their late night chats, it most definitely wouldn't go very well on Nick's part.

Christine usually just slept in the day now, missing lunch about half the time, not that she cared. She was dragged to dinner everyday though, and then she spent the next few hours waiting in her cell for it to be late enough for Nick's arrival. It was a pretty mundane routine, but there was not much Christine could do.

This was the first person she had met in a long time that she didn't want to harm in any way, shape, or form- which was shocking considering he happened to be one of the officers who dragged her away from the conversation with Sadie when Christine was filled with weeks of pent up rage.

Christine didn't remember that until Nick mentioned it, and she shockingly wasn't even that mad.

Life in the cell was difficult. Some times, Christine did miss the Squip more than anything else despite it only being gone for a few days. But being completely alone at most hours of the day wasn't exactly fun in her book, not that she really deserved fun after everything she did.

However, one thing that was starting to irk Christine immensely was the fact that Nick never answered any questions about himself. He either changed the topic or got up and left.

Usually he only left when she asked about his past. He got this pained look on his face as his eyes glazed over, silently remembering the traumatic details. Then, he ran down the hall and cried when he was out of earshot. Without the Squip, he really wasn't doing too well emotionally. His panic attacks occurred due to the smallest things reminding him. He didn't want to appear weak in front of the other guards, so he bottled the panic attacks up internally, which wasn't the best idea.

After bottling these up for too long, Nick would snap, getting annoyed at every little thing anyone else did.

Once, he snapped at Christine as she kept pestering him with questions, but she didn't notice with how naïve she was when it came to reading others emotions. It was always something she struggled with, even when everything she did was scripted and onstage.

Nick felt incredibly guilty after snapping at her, but Christine didn't listen to his apologies.

She was too busy with the ongoing battle in her mind. Christine couldn't help but to think he was hiding something.

Despite the desperation in her brain begging her to point this out to him, she was somehow able to hold herself back. She realized that if she called Nick out, he might never speak to her again, which seemed a bit overdramatic but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Christine way overslept today, but she was still immensely tired. She almost fell asleep at dinner, her face nearly landing in the runny mashed potatoes.

As she was locked back into her cell, it took so much strength for Christine to not fall asleep. However, she failed at that and was soon sleeping on the uncomfortable bed.

Christine woke up both refreshed and in a panic. She missed the opportunity to talk to Nick last night. She groaned as she realized how stupid she was, not that she could really control how tired she felt.

At that moment, a streak of white on the ground caught Christine's attention. It happened to be a note from Nick, which slightly improved Christine's melancholic mood.

Didn't want to wake you, have a good day. XX Nick.

Christine didn't want to get caught with the note as it might've been confiscated. So, she tucked it under the thin yet far too firm pillow and tried not to look at it too often.

Considering she had nothing at this point, the note was now Christine's favorite possession.

Things were starting to look up for Christine for once.

She couldn't wait for that night.

A/N: My chapters are short and sucky recently, sorry. But I'll probably write another new one within the next hour or so, I just have to figure out what to do.
