Detective Brock halts, turning around to face me.
"What did you say?" He asks with a face that basically says 'did I hear you right'.
I nod to confirm that what I said and what he heard was not crazy talk but real.
I follow him to the police station with Diego, Aubrey, Nolan and Randy.
"So you've been all getting calls and texts from the killer?" Brock asks leaning back in his chair behind his messy desk. I can only imagine how hard it is for him to find this masked psychopath. I'm in contact with him and yet I can't find out his identity.
"No just me." I say. "He's targeting me for some reason."
"Although I did get a text from him once." Diego shows him the text he got the night we had dinner at my house.
"Why didn't you come to me sooner?" He asks after I tell him everything that happened. The phone calls, Linda, my dad, everything.
"I was afraid of what he might do." I confess with a heavy sigh. "But me not telling anyone isn't gonna stop him."
"So, Hannah, do you really think this could be your father?" He asks.
I shift in my seat and nod.
"Why?"
I take out the picture and place it on his desk. "My fifth birthday, a day before he left us. There's a message on the back, the killer was in my house, he left in a place he knew I'd find."
"Hannah, I remember your dad, he was a good man I personally don't think he could be capable of doing such a thing. Faking his death and committing a series of murders?"
"You knew my dad?" I ask surprised.
He nods. "I've lived in Riverwood my whole life, I remember Gregg."
"Well I didn't know him so, for all I know he could be the killer."
"Or maybe someone who wants you to think that." Detective Brock places his elbows on the desk and leans forward.
"That's exactly what I said." Nolan says with a smile.
"Alright well, thank you for telling me, this is great. And the next time he contacts you make sure to come to me first." Detective Brock says standing up.
We all stand up as well. "Thank you." I say with a small smile and leave the station.
"You feel better?" Aubrey asks placing a hand on my shoulder and squeezing it.
"No." I shake my head. "Because whoever is doing this is still out there. I lost Brea, Jake and Woody because of him. They think it was my fault that Linda was killed."
"It's not, Hannah." Randy says putting an arm around me. "Don't ever think that."
"Just because the police are handling this doesn't mean I'm gonna stop looking for answers." I say.
"What do you mean?" Aubrey asks.
"There's only one person out there who knows who's under the mask."
"Hannah?" Diego says, already knowing what I'm thinking.
"Paisley." Nolan says realising my plan.
"Exactly, and I'm gonna get something out of her. One way or another." I say determined and walk towards my car.
So sorry for the short chapter, I'll make sure to update again as soon as possible.
