Messages and mistakes

Mac's POV

I glare at Louis as he drives. He promised he wouldn't tell Niall if I didn't want him to and yet here we are on our way to the cafe to tell him anyway.

"Mckenzie stop staring me down. This is serious. He shouldn't be saying things like this to you. He shouldn't be trying to do this to you." He slams his hand into the steering wheel.

"Please Louis. Don't make me do this. It'll only make things worse. You have to understand that." I beg him.

"No. I don't think you understand. He's fucking crazy if he thinks that what he's doing is okay, because it's not." I screams at me.

I look away from him and look at the road instead. I'm still in Niall shirt and Louis' shorts and I'm pretty sure I look ridiculous but Lou won't take me by my house to get clothes so I'm stuck with these for now.

I look back at Louis. His jaw is tense and his knuckles white as he clutches the steering wheel. He glances at me and then focuses back on the road and I do too.

We pull into the cafe and find Niall sitting at the table all the way in the back. We make our way to him while I get strange looks from people. Probably caused by my attire. I stop in my tracks when I see the person responsible for this.

I start to make my way towards him when Lou grabs my wrist and drags me to Niall's table. I follow without resisting because I don't want to cause a scene.

We sit a the table with Niall and my heart breaks when our eyes meet. "What's going on?" he asks.

I put my head down and look away from him. "Nothing."

Louis sighs. "Someone sent her a message and that's what caused her to nearly kill herself."

Niall looks at me. "Doesn't sound like nothing. Who sent it to you and what did it say?"

I look up at him see someone smirk at me from the corner of my eye. I feel my eyes start to burn with tears but I hold them in. I will not let them see me cry ever again.

"It said," I sigh. "Why do love Niall so much? What has he done for you? Don't be the naive little girl you once were. Is he really worth all the pain?"

Niall looks like he's going to say something but I stop him with my hand. "That was the first message." I say.

He nods and waits for me to continue. "The next one said: I'm sorry about your mom. I thought that was you in the shower and I thought maybe you could use some company. Giving her a concussion hopefully made her forget that I was even there."

Niall's eyes widen and he stands up. "Sit your ass down Niall. She's not done." Louis says and he slowly sits back down.

"The third one said: Hey bitch you there? You knew I wouldn't give up. There is no escaping me. You're mine. Not his and never anyone else's. Get used to it cause as long as I'm here you won't be able to be with anyone else."

Niall now has tears falling from his face. "The fourth one said: Why do you think I broke you so badly? Are the gears turning I your head? Have you figured it out yet? It was so you couldn't love again. So you couldn't trust."

Niall now has his hands in his hair and he's tugging at it. He starts shaking his head like he doesn't want to believe what he's hearing.

"The last one said just said 'mine'. In all caps." I don't notice that my hands are shaking until I unclench them.

Lou pats me on the back and I watch as Jackson stands and leaves the cafe. He sat right there and watched as I told Niall everything he texted me.

Niall looks up at me with bloodshot eyes. "When did this happen?" His hands are shaking too.

"I was walking home after the performance and when I was about a block away from the apartment he sent the first message."

"I'm gonna kill him." He stands and head for the door.

I jump up and run after him. I stop in front of him and block his path to the door. I shake my head.

"Get. Out. Of. My. Way." He went from sad to pissed in seconds.

I shake my head. "I won let you do anything to him."

His eyes get big as he throws me over his shoulder and out the door. He walks to the car and shoves me in the passenger seat. He leaves the door open and just stands in front of me.

"Why?" he asks.

"Cause I love him."

He scoffs. "He put your mom in the fucking hospital! And nearly made you put yourself there!"

I look away from him and bite my lip. He doesn't understand. Jackson has been there for me when I didn't even know Niall.

Niall grabs my shoulders and shakes me violently. "Look at me!" He screams. I look at him with wide eyes and my heart beat quickens. He's never done anything like that to me before. "I have done nothing but help you not hurt you. I went to dinner with your asshole of a father. I gave you a birthday party. I loved you." He said loved. Does that mean he doesn't anymore? "he put your mom in the hospital. Broke your heart. Cheated on you. Made you cut. He likes to see you when you're in pain. I don't. I want to see you happy and he's not helping."

I shake my head. "But I don't love you. You told me you were done with me so I'm done with you. You say that you've helped me so much but you never stay around long enough to keep any of your promises."

Niall's face falls. He takes a step away from just as Lou shows up.

"I paid the bill." He says. "Mac, do you want to go to your place to get clothes?"

I shake my head. "No. Just take me home."
