*4 years later*

Anaya's P.O.V

"Anaya! Are you ready!" My mum shouts from down the stairs
"Mum I'm just putting on my heels!" I shout from my room

I put my heels on and look at myself in the mirror. I look at the women I've become. For the past four years I've trained to become a professional nurse. And now, I'm graduating finally!

I take some quick selfies and post them on my story. I grab my phone and run downstairs. I see my family sat in the living room. As soon as I walk into the room my mum gets up and smiles.

"My beti is finally graduating" she says happily
My dad comes over and gives me a hug.
I look at all my brothers and smile. They're all in matching suits and it's adorable.

"Don't you all look cute in your matching suits?" I gush teasingly
"I only did this cause Anisha made me" Sulaiman says referring to his wife
"Yeah us too" Uzair adds in talking about him and the other two
"I swear, married life is so demanding" Hannan whinges

All my brothers at married and its just me left.

"Come on let's go!" I say and they all walk towards the door
Fayzaan volunteered to ride with mum and dad so that Harris could come with us.

I mean, it'd be a bit awkward for me and Harris to sit in the same car as mum and dad. We wait for a few seconds until I see Harris walking out his door and damn does he look good.

He's wearing black trousers, a white shirt and a burgundy velvet blazer. He just looks so good.

The drive is long-ish but definitely not quiet. All the boys could think about was my marriage. Right in front of Harris too

When we reach the graduation hall, I pay for the rent of my gown and then I go to take my pictures.
That's when my phone starts going crazy. Seriously it won't stop pinging. I read all the messages and they're from nearly all my contacts, telling me to 'Say Yes'

To what?

I put my phone on silent and go find my place next to my friends.

A few minutes later, I'm stood on the stage, as a graduate ready to deliver the speech. The speech I wrote late last night with Harris.

I take a deep breath and start. As I read the speech out, all I can think about is what has happened to me all through the years leading up to this moment.

I still remember when pissed my pants in nursery and I had to wear someone else's clothes. And then in reception when I got Worker Of The Year. And I'm Year One when my favourite teacher gave me a My Little Pony pony when she was about to leave.

And in Year Two when I got sweets for making the best artwork. And then I'm Year Six all my good work paid off because I got good end of year grades.

I remember being scared to start a new school. Especially high school. I remember being really shy but when I met my girls, I wasn't that shy little girl anymore.

I remember the moment I received my GCSE results. Leaving college. And now leaving Uni.

"...Standing on this stage right now, it just takes me back to the very first time I learned something. The moment I learned how to say mummy or daddy, the moment I learned my numbers up to ten. We started from the bottom where all we could say we mummy and daddy up to the top where we can earn money for the education we went through. We've done it class of 2022! WE'VE GRADUATED!" I finish my speech and everyone throws their hat off including me

In this moment, I just feel so proud. Biggest achievement in my life to be honest.

I'm about to walk off stage when Harris stops me. He has a microphone in his hand.

"Anaya wait" he says and I turn around to face him
"What?" I whisper
"Anaya, I still remember the day we met. I remember being so shy. I remember you making fun of me cause I stuttered. I remember taking you shopping and I remember how your eyes lit up when we went into a new shop. I remember giving you a promise ring before you left. I promise that I'd always be there for you whenever you needed me. That promise is still here to this day. Four years later. And I couldn't help but fall in love with you more and more everyday. It's just so easy falling in love with you. Your eyes, your smile, your laugh. Everything" he finishes

Not only did I hear that but so did the rest of the fucking hall. Including my whole family.
"So Anaya" he starts again
He gets down on one knee.

OH MY GOD HE'S ON ONE KNEE

My hand finds its way to my mouth and I gasp. Tears fill up my eyes. I don't know what to do. I'm just frozen in my spot

"Anaya..." He opens his little box and I gasp yet again
Even from here the ring looks so pretty. I can only imagine how amazing it'll look from close up.

"...Will you marry me?"

His words echo in my mind and my heart stops.

Wow, I was expecting this yet I'm still shocked when he asked
