Alyssa's P.O.V
I was busy putting some finishing touches and prepping for the date when I heard an impatient knock from the other side of my door. I started to ask who it was, but I stopped myself. Ivan and I were the only ones at home as usual, so or else it was a serial killer of some sort... I shook my head at my wandering imagination.
Of course it was Ivan.
The knock came again, more impatient than the last. I decided to keep on ignoring him.
He pounded harder. "Alyssa! Open this damn door."
I rolled my eyes and went to open it. "What do you want? And for future reference you shouldn't swear at your elder sister." I crossed my arms, trying to feign annoyance.
"Okay," he retorted, matching my glare. "For future reference you should inform your younger brother about your date, especially if-"
"Cameron's here?" I interrupted, reaching out to grab both his shoulders, all the while unintentionally squeezing them.
Naturally, he shrugged them off. "Geez, calm down woman, have you gone mad?"
"Shit, sorry." I apologized. "Just go downstairs and tell him I'll be down in a minute."
"And what should we do in those five minutes, while you're up here doing whatever?"
"I said I'll be down in a minute, not five."
He leaned against the door frame. "Please. With women a minute is five and five is ten."
I face palmed myself in exasperation. He was right though. "Whatever. Just keep up small talk with him. And Ivan, do not do or say anything stupid." I warned as an after thought.
He contemplated. "That's a great idea as revenge for what happened at that dinner."
"Ivan..." I trailed, folding my arms.
He held up his hands as he left. "No promises."
I didn't realise how nervous I was until Ivan had gone. I took deep breaths and gave myself a once over in the full length mirror in the room.
Since it was just movies and probably eating afterwards, I dressed casual. Actually, cute casual. I wore a grey long sleeve cashmere turtle neck, jeans and a nice pair of boots. My hair was styled in curls and I applied light make up.
Before leaving, I turned around and checked my ass in the mirror. What? I'm pretty sure 95% of girls do it.
Ivan was chatting animatedly with Cameron when I got down, so I stood a the last step and listened. I smiled knowing he was already taking a liking to Cameron. Ivan wasn't one to socialise with easily. I cleared my throat to signal my arrival and walked to the door.
He was in my line of sight now. I watched as he smiled at me with something glinting in his eyes, while I took his appearance in. He wore brown jacket on his blue flannel shirt, jeans and Vans.
And as simple as it sounded, he still looked great.
"Are you two just gonna stand and stare all night?" asked Ivan.
I snapped out of my trance immediately, blushing furiously. I hadn't even realised I was staring for that long. How mortifying.
"We should get going." said Cameron.
"Are you coming back home?" Ivan asked, smirking. I blushed shades further at what he was insinuating. Cameron tried to stifle a laugh but failed, making me jab him a little in the side.
"Yes I am Ivan. See you later." I answered and pulled on Cameron's jacket. He obeyed willingly.
"I like your brother." he commented when we got in his car.
"Yeah, he's a charmer isn't he," I returned sarcastically. "You're lucky he didn't suss you out."
He swerved into a bend. "I have people skills. You look amazing by the way. I wanted to tell you back earlier, but we got caught up..."
He stopped and I knew he was talking about the staring. But he said 'we'. Does that mean he was also staring at me too? I wondered.
"Yeah, you look great too." I voiced, felt my heart beating rapidly. I just hope I don't die of hyperventilation before the night is over.
We pulled into yet another turning. My phone beeped on my lap.
Ro_1: We're almost at the cinema.
"Rowan says they're almost there." I informed.
"Okay we'll be there in about ten minutes." he replied.
I nodded and typed in a quick response.
Me: Be there in ten.
We kept on driving in silence, then out if the blue he spoke up.
"I'm kinda bummed about this."
Bummed? Why would he? And was he referring to this date or something else? I mean, he was the one who asked me out so... why? He took note of my silence and continued.
"Not in the way you think..." he paused. "I just really wanted it to be just us two." he revealed.
OH. MY. GOD. Did he just say what I heard? Or was I hallucinating? Shit, I'm a freaking wreck internally. I'm just glad that people don't have that ability to read minds, because mine is on overdrive from all this thinking. I realised that I had to muster up some sort of reply, so he wouldn't think otherwise.
"I don't know if I should be flattered or suspicious." I replied evenly, feeling my calm coming back.
He laughed. It was awful contagious. "I think I was aiming for flattery. But why suspect anything?"
I shrugged not really knowing how to answer. I merely said what I did out of intuition. "Because, you don't just suddenly meet someone and go places with them thrice in a month. Especially if you don't know the said person that well." I finally said.
Word vomit. That was word vomit. I should probably stop talking now.
He chuckled. "You do if your heart's set on it and if you're sure, then isn't that really motivation enough?"
But I wasn't able to answer, because as he said those words, we got to the cinema, ultimately loosing all chances of ever speaking about it again for the night.

AUTHOR'S RANT.
Okay, so this was initially supposed to be the whole date chapter, but it got super long so I just decided to cut it into half, hence the parts.
And I've realised parting chapters is a really good loophole for authors.
