Alyssa's P.O.V
"All you have to stay, a minute, just take your time! The clock is ticking, so stay! All you have to do is wai-"
"Nice voice." someone whispered in my ear.
"Aaahhhh!" the books I was taking from my locker fell from my hands. I put my palm in my chest and leaned on the locker, trying to slow my breathing down. Cameron looked like he was trying to bite back a laugh.
"Are you alright?" he asked slowly. "Give me a sign if you are."
I gave him the finger before standing up straight. "What is wrong with you? Were you planning on giving me a heart attack?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were that easy to scare." he answered in defence.
"Well, I am you creepo. Remember that next time." I fired back.
"So you want there to be a next time?" he smiled, raising a brow and completely ignoring the name I called him.
I could feel my neck grow warm, so I also ignored his comment. "Great, my books are all over the floor." I sighed and glared at him.
"Let me pick them up." he said, already bending and picking a book.
"No, no!" I shouted and crouched, stopping him midway from picking another book. He froze and looked at me. Like really, really looked at me. Then I looked down...
My hand was on his wrist where I stopped him from taking the book.
I quickly withdrew my hand like I just touched fire and smiled nervously at the weird look he was giving me. I could literally feel the warmth in my neck spreading to my cheeks.
What are you doing Alyssa??
Like lightening, I packed up the remaining books and stood up on my wobbly legs. Cameron did the same, the look never leaving his face as he handed me the only book he was able to pick before I stopped him.
I cleared my throat. "Uhh, thanks."
"Yeah..." he dragged.
Talk about awkward. Way to go, Alyssa.
"So, why did you come here in the first place?" I asked, attempting to clear the awkward moment.
"Oh yeah, I wanted to return your pen." he replied and retrieved the pen from his pocket.
I collected it. "But wouldn't you need this today?"
"Yeah, but today's Friday."
"And..." I trailed.
"And, it's the beginning of the weekend for me. I don't work on weekends, I party."
With that, he winked at me and left.

"Stay put!" Rowan ordered. I squirmed on my chair.
"I don't want curlers!" I whined.
"But your hair is so... limp."
I gasped. "Liar! My hair has natural waves and you know it."
"It's true." Shannon piped from the other side of my room.
"Okay, fine. But you've got to let me do your make up."
"I can do m-... fine." Rowan smiled and spun me around so I wasn't facing the mirror.
"I want to see what you're doing."
"You will. After I'm done."
After what seemed like 10 minutes to me, but was probably just 2 or 3, she was finished.
